⛵️ 141st roundabout coming?

PLUS: the world changer, a sellout victory, new coffee, and more

Brought to you by:

Good Tuesday Morning. This is Fishers Digest. Why did Tax Day have to be the most beautiful weather of 2024? And speaking of taxes, check your mail. Property tax assessments should be hitting your mailbox 📬️

🌧️ Today's weather: Showers, with a high near 77°.

In today’s digest:

  • The end in sight for 141st/SR37

  • The World Changer

  • New coffee place?

  • Construction report

This issue is 1,405 words, a 5-minute read.

The Digest

So the roundabout at 141st/SR 37…

Looks like 2024 might finally be the year. So far the Mayor is holding up his promise and timeline of restarting the project around now. Fishers still needs to work with the state to get the project approved, but they say the work can still get done this year.

Are people and businesses on the other side of the barrier popping bottles tonight?! 🍾

🌎️ Fisher’s World Changer

Ascension St. Vincent in Fishers delivered their 5000th baby last week. To celebrate, Mayor Fadness gave the baby the “World Changer” award. What a neat award to be given. I wonder if she can use it as a suffix title in her name. Congrats and enjoy your award baby Neela! Try not to eat it.

Fun fact: The hospital is the only one in Fishers that delivers babies. And has been doing it since 2013. That rounds out to a little over one baby delivered every single day.

Sellout victory 🏒

The Indy Fuel hosted the Kalamazoo Wings with a sellout crowd of 6,327 fans in attendance. This was their last regular home game and was won in a thrilling overtime period. Other than their Friday and Saturday home playoff games this weekend, nothing is set in stone just yet. That said, here’s the full schedule:

ECHL Kelly Cup Playoff Schedule

  • Round 1: Division Semifinals | April 17 - May 1

  • Round 2: Division Finals | May 3 - May 15

  • Round 3: Conference Finals | May 17 - May 29

  • Round 4: Kelly Cup Finals | May 31 - June 12

So how’s their new home stadium doing? Glad you asked. November 2024 is still the opening date. The image below shows what it looks like. Make sure to check out this fantastic drone timelapse of it being built over the past year.

Season tix for Fishers Freight and Indy Fuel are still available. You can also finally see the stadium layout and location of each section of tickets!

Character you can count on*

80% of realtors who get their license give it up or change the status to inactive in the first year of owning it. Yup. It’s hard business. So when you find a realtor with over 20 years of experience selling in Fishers - you know they’re legit.

With character you can count on, Kelly Dather wants nothing more than to help you win. The market dictates the price of your home, but there’s things a trustworthy realtor can do to help you squeeze that extra bit more when you go to sell. I’d list them here, but every plan he makes is unique and one of a kind.

If you’re ready to get started, mention you’re a Fishers Digest reader when you reach out. It’s worth it. The Kelly Dather Real Estate Group | KW Indy Metro Northeast | Fishers, IN | 317-827-2066

Additional info

Everyone in Fishers is in Zone 6a for the USDA Plant Hardiness map. What does this mean? It’s what you should use when figuring out what type of grass you seed with, plants you try to grow, etc. Check out the full map if you live in a surrounding area. Some parts of Indy are Zone 6b (link)

Every National Park is free on Monday. We have three in Indiana: Indiana Dunes National Park, George Rogers Clark National Historical Park, and Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial.

Local Business

☕️ Will Biggby Coffee still come to Fishers?

Biggby Coffee Renderings from re-zone proposals

Biggby Coffee is a Michigan-based chain that already has a few shops in surrounding areas. Last December, the owner of a property on 104th/Olio Road was denied a zoning variance. They wanted to build a drive-thru coffee shop on .7 acres, below the minimum of 1 acre 😢

A reader who was using Apple Maps saw the Biggby business profile on their map, and asked if I knew what’s up. I don’t, but I’d say Biggby making that profile is a sign they still want to make a drive-thru coffee shop happen there!

To see it yourself, search Biggby Coffee on Apple Maps. Their business profile is at 104th Street/Olio Road.

🎨 Context Design

Nickel Plate District by Context Design

Context Design is responsible for many of the land designs you see in Fishers today. I highly recommend gushing over their beautiful hand-drawn concepts of Fishers. I probably spent 5 minutes on the photo above looking at all the detail and comparing it to today. Here is the portfolio for the Nickel Plate District.
