The Digest

A few updates from this week’s local gov meetings 🌶️

There were two back-to-back spicy developments this week. Here’s what you need to know:

🏨 The IHG Atwell Suites Saxony Hotel — Not happening… yet ❌ The plan committee mostly told them no. And are giving the developers one more chance to fix some things. There were multiple clapping ovations every time someone on the committee said they’re voting no 😂 Here’s an example

🏢 Meijer at Southeastern Parkway — This is a go ✅ It was given unanimous approval by the commission. 7/9 public comments made were against it, but the fact that the land has been zoned for this use since 2006 trumped everything.

And we also got a small note that Hy-Vee is still coming to Fishers. (For those who don’t know, this is a grocery store that’s been told will be coming across the street from Saxony for a long time now).

$28 million per mile

I won’t even try and summarize — Rich Nye with WTHR did it perfectly:

“After 16 years, 3 governors, 142 miles, & over $4 billion - I-69 from Evansville to Indianapolis has reached the finish line. This is the new interchange where I-69 meets I-465 on the southwest side of Indianapolis. “

That’s a little over $28 million per mile. But hey, now you can go all the way from the Kentucky border to Canada with no stoplights! 🤣 The Indiana Capital Chronicle has a fantastic article with more details.

Channel your inner Bob Ross at Fishers Art Center 🎨

Because we’ve all got it in us to paint happy little trees.

In case you didn’t know, the new City Hall building in downtown Fishers doubles as an art gallery. It’s everything you’d expect from a high-quality gallery with exhibits and programs, all run by The Indy Art Center.

And if you love supporting local, developing new skills, or socializing — they just announced 100 multi-week classes for adults and kids and 30 one-time “Make It Take It” workshops all taught by professional artists from around central Indiana 🔥

There is cost for the classes (and TBH it’s pricey), but they say tuition assistance is available for those who apply. Here’s the list of classes.

This house has a secret...

Actually, it has two. Hidden rooms that even Harry Potter would envy.

But that's not why you'll fall in love with this custom home right next to Morse Reservoir.

It might be the chandelier with its own pulley system (yes, really). Or the primary suite that feels like a 5-star hotel room. Or maybe the backyard that's more "private forest" than "suburban lot".

From the gourmet kitchen to the finished basement, every inch screams luxury. And with Harbour Trees Golf Club practically in your backyard, it's a lifestyle, not just a home.

Contact Kelly Dather and view the home if you’re interested.
