The Digest

Pickleball, Powered by You 🫵

84% of local players say they’re on the court for pure fun and hang time. Exercise is just the cover story 😉 Hah.

Big high-five to Carson (SMARI’s summer intern) for making this, and every Digest reader who took his five-minute survey and helped shape this material. Thank you for helping give Fishers a real scoreboard on pickleball popularity!

🏓 Getting started: I highly recommend the pickleball lessons offered at Cyntheanne Park if you’re looking to get a kickstart on the game. Everything is provided, and you can decide if you want to get into the sport while making some beginner friends right away. Lessons start next Monday, tickets here.

New Fitness Court 🏋️

📍Location: Brooks School Park

Brooks School Park now has a free, ready-to-go fitness station for you to check out this summer. Made possible by a grant from the National Fitness Campaign, there’s something for every ability level here. QR-code guided workouts will help you figure out how to use some of these funky-looking machines. And I think you’ll want to, because some of these feel a little dangerous without instructions 😂

Join the official ribbon cutting ceremony and Fire vs Police “Battle of the Badges" at 11:30 am on June 25th.

💪 Don’t forget: This week is Family Health + Fitness Week. Head on over to Geist Waterfront Park from 10 am to noon and 4 to 6 pm until this Friday to participate in team challenges, with the best team winning a prize. Details here.

Future Landmark Alert 🌳

Renderings of the sculpture on the trail

The city just gave the green light to a massive tree sculpture that will take root right on the side of a garage on the Nickel Plate Trail. We’re talking as tall as the building itself, with illuminated hexagon branches hanging 3-5 feet over the trail. The design also sneaks in some backlit Nickel Plate Trail lettering, so you don’t forget where you are.

Construction is planned to start this fall!

📶 Breakfast Radar: Boomdown Donuts 🍩

We won’t get into whatever the heck is going on with Jack’s Donuts as a brand.

We WILL get into Boomtown Donuts. The franchise owner of the location took things into her own hands and “re-opened” as Boomtown a little over a month ago with fresh branding, new interior, new everything! If you’re like me and it’s been a while since you’ve been (Pre-Boomtown AKA Jacks) - this is the perfect time to support a local business owner trying to keep what might be Fishers longest running donut location around. Someone fact-check me on this.

They are at 📍13578 E 131st St Ste 112, Fishers, IN. And here is their Facebook page that shows their rebranding progression and more.
