The Digest

Six-Months of the Fishers Event Center 🎉

Fishers Event Center turns six months old today. Since its November 2024 debut, it has hosted 85 events in 160 days. Not bad!

Since Opening (Nov ’24 → May 20 ’25):

  • Packed in Alabama, Cirque du Soleil & Megan Moroney

  • Locked down three pro squads: Indy Fuel 🏒, Indy Ignite 🏐, Fishers Freight 🏈

  • Rolled out the county’s biggest private-event space

If you haven’t been, you may soon if you have an HSE or Fishers grad in early June. And if you don’t have a grad, here is their announced lineup for the summer.

An Uneventful May + Carmel Christkindl 🎄

Fishers City Council cancelled this month’s meeting. Why? I guess the agenda was light, and not all the members were available 🤷

In neighboring Carmel City Council news:

Carmel appointed a new committee chair to investigate the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. Why? Four leaders have walked out since last fall, and city council wants to know why.

Timeline of events:

Starting last fall two board members were removed → another quit days later → CEO Maria Rosenfeld resigned Apr 30 after claiming her voice was “silenced.” On May 5, councilors voted to investigate. And on May 19, they appoint Ryan Locke to be that guy.

The Carmel Christkindlmarkt is very important for tourism and local businesses, so hopefully, however these things shake out, they won’t impact its #1 Best Holiday Market in America ranking.

Your New Front Yard? 🏡*

9127 Pointe Court is pure summer. You’ll find it on a quiet cul-de-sac with a big fenced yard and open main floor—kids, pups, and pizza all fit.

Craving Fishers’ food scene or a concert? The brand-new Fishers Event Center and The Yard are a breezy bike ride away.

Upstairs? Four bedrooms, including a vaulted-ceiling primary suite with garden tub, double vanities, and a walk-in closet you can twirl in (if you want).

It’s a great house that gets the job done.

A Fishers Fairy Tale 🧚

Pic from Indycar.com, not mine

Robert Shwartzman just pulled off the wildest Indy surprise in decades—grabbing the 109th Indy 500 Pole at a blistering 232.790 mph in his first-ever oval race. Yes. First Ever. If you don’t know what the Pole is, it’s the foremost starting spot this Sunday.

The 24-year-old’s run makes him the first rookie to top qualifying since 1983.

A rookie + a brand-new team (Prema) = instant folklore.

And guess where Prema is based? Yep. Good ‘ol Fishers Indiana.

As the Fishers newsletter, you know who we are be rooting for this Sunday.

Where to find Wawa in Indiana ⛽️

The hoagie hookup is finally here! Convenience-store legend Wawa opens its first Hamilton County outpost this week, part of a 60-store Indiana push by the 1,100-location chain.

If you’re unaware why a “gas station” opening up here is a big deal, Wawa is one of those near-fanatical places with a massive fanbase (think Buccees). Very few states have one - it’s still mostly an East Coast thing.

Opening Timeline:
Starting tomorrow, 8 am Thursday, May 22 (ribbon-cutting at 9 am)
📍 5890 Midland Pointe Blvd., Noblesville

Day-One Freebies:☕ Unlimited coffee pours
🎉 Limited-edition swag while it lasts
