The Digest
wtf is a pukwudjie
They’re troll-like, goblin-like, or human-like monsters. Depending on who you ask. They’re also small and mischievous. If you annoy them, you might find yourself pushed off a cliff, shot with fiery arrows, or even have your children stolen.
The pukwudjie’s near us? Yeah, those are in Anderson at Mounds State Park.
You might be scratching your head. Why are we telling you this? Local Fishers author Mark Randall wrote a book about ALL the Indiana folklore you’d want to know. Here’s a great cover story if you want to learn more about his journey with Indiana’s magical creatures ✨
Did you catch it? 🌌

Last night, if you looked up ~9:30 pm. You would have seen something like this. These are Elon Musk’s “Starlink satellite trains”. Star-gazers have dubbed these a menace, but they are pretty cool if you’re lucky enough to catch them.
Miebach consulting
An update to our previous issue. The Fishers Redevelopment Plan Commission approved Miebach Consulting’s HQ move to Fishers. This means the city will provide some $ for training. The 22 new employees they guaranteed to hire will be paid ~$52/hr in exchange (amongst other things). Not bad! (A lot of this is a simplification).

Balloon Festival 🎈

The largest balloon festival in Indiana is set to kick off this Friday. And it’s right here in Fishers at Conner Prairie. The Jupiter Flights Festival is a weekend FULL of flights and competitions. I’m serious. Every morning and night, there will be balloons in the sky. Here’s how you can join in this weekend.
Shout-out to two of our readers, Lynn and Curtis, who are hot-air balloonists and invited us to come out. During the event, they’ll be flying in their balloon, the Oompa Loompa. Make sure you say hi 👋
Story Walk
September’s story walk kicks off today. Books are broken up into large signs alongside a quarter-mile path. This month’s park is at “How to Grow an Apple Pie” @ Cumberland Park.
Baby Elephant 🐘
On Labor Day, the Indianapolis Zoo welcomed a brand new calf. Here’s what’s interesting: This elephant is the first in the world to be born through second-generation artificial insemination. Basically, she AND her mom were born through the process.
