The Digest

New board president

One big thing: Bill Kenley is replacing current president Laura Alerding on the HEPL library board. Kenley is a Noblesville High School Teacher.

As for Alerding, she has a few more meetings as president:

  1. The regular monthly library meeting (details on this below)

  2. Two special meetings to discuss unnamed people’s performance

🎲 Some speculate these could be about library director Edra Waterman.

Alerding has been very public that misjudging books is the library staff’s fault. Not the boards. This includes books like John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars.

💡Situational Awareness: Fishers and Noblesville share a library system. The Noblesville School Board appointed the President and Vice President.

With Laura’s term expiring this month — the board took a vote ending in 3-2 (Laura was 1 of the 2 who voted no for replacing herself 😂 respect the hustle!)

The state of play: Over 25 people came up to speak during public comment. About half supported the current policy of moving books with “obscene material”. Basically, any book that contains cussing or sexual content of any kind is considered obscene and grounds to be moved.

A 50/50 split means it is truly anyone's guess on what happens next. If you want to be part of it, here’s the next meeting details:

HEPL Board Meeting | Thursday, August 24 | 6:15 pm | 1 Library Plaza, Noblesville, IN 46060 (Noblesville Library)

Where’s Moe?

The sign was posted on Moe’s front door. No explanation from Moe’s.

Moe’s Southwest Grill on 116th is permanently closed. Alongside most of their other locations.

If you look them up, you’ll see that almost all their locations say “temporarily closed”.

Except for one.

The last remaining Moe’s open in the Indianapolis area is in Zionsville. I asked employees there if they knew what was happening — and they did not. Ownership has been tight-lipped.

📈 The trend: Moe’s isn’t alone in shutting down shop. Green District, also on 116th Street, told employees they’re closing their doors this month. They have only been open for 8 months.

Lock your cars

This probably goes without saying, but please lock your cars at night.

Driving the news: Residents in Sunblest Apartments have reported multiple break-ins recently. With as many as three happening in one night.

One resident even reported their car was broken into, nothing was stolen, and a pair of AirPods was left in their seat. SMH. Amateur.

This comes after things like the Kia Boys break-in at Napleton Kia. Protect yourself, Fishers!

Facebook Finds

Lol, in all seriousness — please be careful.
