The Digest

🌉 Bell Ford Bridge Update: It's moved!

Photo from Hamilton County Parks

Last week, the rebuilt Bell Ford bridge was moved to Geist Park. Here’s a few videos and photos of being moved! These might end up in a history book.

And speaking of history, remember how we asked a few weeks ago what a combination post truss bridge is?

Turns out, there’s two parts to that question. Combination means it’s a truss bridge made with both wood/metal. And the post part isn’t some engineering feat — it’s a person. Simeon L. Post.

Huge thanks to a reader, Tony, who shared this blog written by Will Truax explaining all that. Will was part of the team who helped to secure/catalogue the parts after each span fell (one in 1999, the other in 2005) when it was in Seymour, IN.

Brian Murphy resigns as HSE Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources

Brian Murphy informed the HSE school board that by the end of the month, he will be stepping down from his position. This comes after his hiring just 6 months ago, and an unfair labor complaint by HSEA in July.

There isn’t any replacement lined up yet, but maybe one will be announced at the next school board meeting on Sept. 25th.

2025 Budget

In case you missed it, next year’s budget for Fishers will be all about investing in things we already have. There’s nothing majorly new coming except for a new Agripark on the west side of Fishers, and the completion of the Community Center on Hoosier Road in October 2025. For all the specifics, you can read about them here.

Fall Festival at the AgriPark

Fall Festival at the Fishers AgriPark opens for registration on Monday! This one sells out quick. The event is Oct. 8-12 and registration is required (no walk-ups or day of registration).

How does it work? The park is open 4-7 PM daily — you choose your day to visit between Oct. 8-12 and include those who will be attending. The event includes a scarecrow trail, campfire + s’mores, pumpkin painting, animals, and more. There’s also a scarecrow contest between City of Fishers employees, and attendees vote for the best one 👩‍🌾

Weekend preview 📆

Three more Farmers Markets

The Fishers Farmers Market is only here for three more weekends 😢 So make the most if it’s your jam.

Also, it looks like The Piazza Geist Market adjusted their market day this weekend due to the Geist Marathon happening on Saturday. They’ll return 9/21.

Have a motorcycle? Or a Jeep?

Tomorrow (Saturday), American Legion Post 64 is organizing a motorcycle and jeep ride to the 9/11 memorial in downtown Indy. Once there, there will be a tribute and guest speaker before riding back to the post. Details here.

Fall is Ausome

Ausome Fall Fest is happening Saturday from 11 am - 2 pm at Piney Acres Farm. This is an inclusive event put on by Ausome Indy + Autism Society of Indiana + Down Syndrome Indiana. Come to feed animals, do some gem mining, enjoy the jumping pads, and more.

Secret Comedy Show tonight 🤫

At 8 am today, Don’t Tell Comedy will reveal the secret location of today’s comedy show. The way it works is they keep the location and comics secret up until doors open. It could be literally anywhere. A bar, a hotel, a convenience store. Nothing’s off limits 😂 If that sounds fun to you, here is where you can get tickets.

Fun fact: The last Don’t Tell Comedy show locally in Fishers was at Memento Zero Proof.

Coming soon! 🔜

These are events that are not this week but could be worth putting on your calendar.

🎃 Harvest Nights at Newfields begin 9/29 and runs through 11/2. Tickets are required for the spooky (not scary) spectacle of glowing gourds through Mischief Manor. Visit on a Tuesday or Wednesday for their “value night” to save some change.

🌟 Glow in the Park returns to NPD Amp Sept. 20-21 from 8-10 pm Black lights, fog machines, a foam cannon, and all things glow-in-the-dark will be the vibe here. Friday is a 21+ event and Saturday is family-friendly. Tickets are required and cannot be purchased at the event.

🤠 Country star Megan Moroney announced she will be playing at the Fishers Event Center on April 24, 2025. Tix go on sale Sept. 13 at 10 am

🎶 Live Music

Your weekend pick:

The Bejeweled Band will play a Taylor Swift tribute on Friday 8-10 p.m. @ Daniel’s Vineyard. Kids under 12 are free in the lawn area. I’ve heard a few thousand people might show up to this one.

Not your thing? You can find more live music venues list on our site below 👇️

Do You Know Why Smells Linger On Activewear Fabrics?

Activewear fabrics trap sweat & dead skin due to the tightly woven fabrics. Normal detergents coat over these so once your body heats up the stink returns.

ACTIVE detergent uses an enzyme blend to break down & remove sweat, oil, and dead skin fast!

Local Business

A Fishers-based startup could go public soon

Novusterra Inc., a 4-year-old startup based in Fishers is preparing for an ambitious initial public offering despite its small size at just 5 employees!

The company specializes in graphene technology, which is a super-thin material stronger than steel and harder than diamonds. The material could be used in products like water filtration, energy storage, and sustainable infrastructure (but is still in the testing phrase). Good luck to you!
