From White River to Geist Park: The 155-Year Journey of the Bell Ford Bridge🌉

This is exactly where the bridge will be moved to on September 5

On September 5, the historic Bell Ford Bridge will soon become part of Geist Greenway Trail at Geist Park. It won’t be ready to use, but it will at least be in its final resting spot.

Why is this a big deal: because this thing is vintage! It was originally made when Ulysses S. Grant was Pres and it’s the only post truss bridge in the world (don’t ask us what that means, see note below)🫰 And it’s not cheap to rebuild a 155 year old bridge. It’s taking $7.5 million (with 3 coming from the feds) to restore it.

The build will be totally done and ready to walk on later next Spring (2025).

**Quick note. Google has not helped us figure out what a post truss bridge is, but that’s what they call it. If anyone can clarify, we'd love to know!

Devour Fishers 🦈

12 restaurants in Fishers are flexing their menus for the next two weeks. And if you love reasonably priced meals, this is for you. Because that’s exactly what you can get during Devour Indy’s Summerfest.

What is Devour Indy? — It’s a twice a year thing where hundreds of restaurants across Indy create special (usually cheaper) menus to get you to try their stuff. It’s honestly one of the BEST ways to try those pricier spots.

To save you some time, we made a blog post that breaks down all the places in Fishers with that pricing info, so you can easily figure out where you want to go 🤝

736 days and counting*

Will Sasha (pictured) be the newest member of your family?

The Hamilton County Humane Society asked us to share sweet Sasha here who has been at the Humane Society for 736 days 😢 She is an 8-year-old shepherd mix who is still full of life! Her ideal home would include:

  • a home where she is the only pet

  • someone patient who gives ample time for her to warm up (she is a little nervous)

  • someone who loves to play and nap equally

  • if the family has children, it’s best if they are at least 14 years old

The best part is, Sasha is part of this weekend’s Clear the Shelters event, where it costs just $10 to adopt her. She will come with a free one-month supply of preventatives, spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccines, start bag of food, and wellness exam at a participating veterinarian.
