A New Era For Sangrita

Sangrita Grill & Cantina is a Mexican-style restaurant at the Yard at Fishers District known for its street-style tacos and weekend brunch. But, it’s closing this week and coming back with a completely different vibe.

The restaurateur, Josh Ratliff, behind BlackSheep Craft Pizza & Cocktails in Westfield, will join the Sangrita team to help elevate the menu, drinks and overall guest experience. You can read more here about the changes they will be making to the menu and tequila & mezcal program.

Sangrita will be closed this week and reopen on Saturday, May 30 at 11 a.m.

As part of this transition, Sangrita Grill & Cantina will join the Upland Hospitality family of restaurants. Are you excited for this change?

Just 12 miles north of Zionsville on US 421, Kirklin has antique shops, fresh baked goods at Baked, great food at Bookers, handcrafted coffee at Rise N Brew, and a craft distillery - Travelers Point - making bourbon from locally sourced grains. And this summer, Kirklin Main Street has a full event lineup worth putting on your calendar. Plan your visit at kirklin-mainstreet.org.

Cul-de-sac Drills Are Back

The Fishers Fire Department is kicking off its summer tradition starting June 1 with cul-de-sac drills. The water drills start at 7 p.m. and are open to everyone, even if you don’t live in that neighborhood.

Firefighters will pull out the hose, spray water, and give little and big kids alike an opportunity to handle the hose line or just run through the spray. These events are open to everyone and completely free.

Here is this summer’s schedule. Will they be coming to your neighborhood?

State Road 37 Project

One of the largest construction projects in Fishers history is now completed. The new 141st interchange opened this week, marking the completion of the State Road 37 Improvement Project.

The City of Fishers hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m. to mark the opening of the final interchange at 141st Street.

The State Road 37 Improvement Project was a multi-year infrastructure initiative that broke ground in 2018 to improve safety, mobility, and connectivity along the Fishers segment of the SR 37 corridor.

Local Spotlight

👋Meet Andy

Meet Andy Albert, Fishers resident, and owner of Indy Card Exchange. Andy has owned the shop for the last 14 years, but his love for the hobby of collecting sports cards started long before that. When he was growing up in northern Indiana visiting his local card shop, that experience transformed how much he loved the hobby, and he knew he wanted to create that same experience for others.

If you visit Indy Card Exchange on 96th Street, you’ll instantly feel welcomed and a sense of community. Whether you are a long-time collector or have never bought a card in your life, you’ll be invited to sit at the bar, ask questions, learn, and watch people rip packs.

Andy’s favorite part about what he does is, hands down, the people. He says he’s learned so much from so many people through this journey and has created lifelong friendships all because of trading cards.

Getting kids involved in the hobby is a big priority for Andy and his team. The general manager of the shop, Jake, created the Indy Card Exchange Kids Club back in 2015. It's a free membership for kids aged 13 and under to receive a monthly gift from the shop, interact with fellow kid collectors on a consistent basis and more. The biggest piece of the Kids Club is the annual event. This September, they will be hosting all Kids Club members at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!

If Andy had a free day in Fishers, he would eat breakfast at The Roost, followed by a walk with his wife and dog on the Nickel Plate Trail. Then he would eat lunch at Fishers Ale Emporium before going down for a nap. Finally, he would have dinner with his family at Tiburon, followed by a quick walk across the street to his favorite spot for ice cream, Handel’s.

Andy was recently on The Scuttlebutt Club podcast where he shared all about the shop, getting kids involved in the hobby, events, and more.

Got a game to watch, friends coming over, or zero interest in cooking tonight? Greek’s Pizzeria is ready for all of it. They’ve been serving up scratch-made Indiana pizza since 1969, and they still know how to bring people to the table. This is the kind of meal that makes a regular night feel like a good one. Make tonight a Greek’s night.
