The Digest

Will these Fortville homes become Fishers addresses? 🤔

A letter a Fortville resident received from Fishers

The City of Fishers is thinking about annexing parts of Fortville into Fishers 😱 They sent a letter to residents in the above areas. Mostly near the Agripark and Flat Fork Creek Park. Why are they trying to do this? No idea. The letter doesn’t say.

Before moving forward, Fishers is holding six public meetings to explain the details. These meetings will cover the proposed boundaries, city services, taxes, and more. All informal drop-in style and welcome to anyone.

View the full letter they sent to residents and meeting dates if you want to learn more.

Speaking of neighborhoods…

Could your neck of the woods use a little TLC? The City of Fishers 2024 Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant Program might be able to help.

Your HOA or neighborhood group can apply from now until July 31 for a slice of the funds, which will be granted out quarterly on a rolling basis. The City of Fishers will now also fund 80% of the project cost up to $25,000 requiring participants to contribute just 20% of the total (a change from previous years where neighborhoods went halfsies).

Here are some of the ways 2024 recipients are using their funds. Things like sidewalk repair, landscaping, pond enhancements.

Detective of the Year 🕵️

Fishers is home to the Hamilton County ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) Task Force. Recently, they’ve taken down offenders in our area and nationwide.

Last Friday, an unnamed detective was given the title of Detective of the Year by the Indiana State Police. To whomever you are, thank you for helping keep our children safe! 🎉

The Olympics hype is still flying

The Olympics swimming buzz doesn’t end at the pool. Summer travelers will experience the continued excitement while entering and exiting the Indy airport🛫

And really, who isn’t excited about Paris 2024, especially given our local swimming celebs? Drew Kibler, Aaron Shackell and Alex Shackell (all from Carmel); Lilly King (Evansville); Blake Pieroni (Chesterton); and Luke Whitlock (Noblesville) are all going to the Olympics!!! Here’s the full roster.

If you’ll be flying through IND, buy some gold medal merch, stand at the podium in the restaurant area, and see swimmers’ photos plastered all over baggage claim.

The Happenings

SPARK!Fishers is this week

SPARK!Fishers is here 💥

The week long celebration of America is here! SPARK!Fishers has activities happening all week. Concerts, drone shows, car shows, parades, fireworks. None of you better email me saying there’s nothing to do this week 🤣

Tonight: Free concert begins at 8 pm, featuring Uptown Funk, a tribute to Bruno Mars, on the NPD AMP stage, followed by a drone show above the AMP. Free to attend. The drone show will likely be around 10, based on last year but there is no official time.

Fireworks are cool again starting this Saturday 💥

Your annual Fireworks meme

Free flix for teachers 🎥

July is educator appreciation month! Emagine Noblesville is treating our teachers and school staff to a free movie. It’s sort of the least we can do, right?Tickets are comped every Wednesday from July 1-31 before 5 PM, but must be purchased in person to show ID. Here’s the list of showtimes.

Hot weather means boats and floats

If this steamy weather has you dying to dig out that kayak or canoe then this section is for you.

> Here’s a handy list of entry points with addresses for all over Hamilton County.

No canoe? No problem. White River Canoe Company in Noblesville offers trips for kayaking, canoeing, and river tubing. There’s also an option to bring your own boat for certain adventures.

🎭️ Two-show Tuesday

> Spay by Madison Fiedler tonight at the Phoenix Theatre

Local Business

Dogtopia and a request! 🐶

We love dogs at Fishers Digest so of course we’re going to share the new dog-related businesses here. A new dog boarding place, Dogtopia, opened over the weekend. You’ll find them at 8628 E 96th St, Fishers, IN 46037. Speaking of dogs..

I’m looking for a dog in Fishers. Golden. Brown Eyes.

Okay, friends. Here’s a personal favor to ask. My family is on the hunt for a sweet Golden Retriever/mix to join our family. A mature puppy or adult furry friend who is sweet, is good with kids, and most importantly is an excellent snuggler would be our dream. Any leads? Please email us by replying to this newsletter.
