The Digest

The old Humane Society building is finally being put to use

Ah yes, good mems at this building. But man they were due for an upgrade. In 2021, they moved to Fishers at 106th Street/Hague Road and the old building has been left empty since then.

The County plans to turn the building into modern offices for three government departments: Household and Hazardous Waste, Soil and Water District, and Weights and Measures. There’s no timeline set but once final approvals are in place, construction will start. This is part of a broader effort to revitalize Noblesville with the Reimagine Pleasant Street project

Touch a Truck 🚒

The Fishers Touch-a-Truck event is today, May 21 from 4:30-7:30 pm at the NPD Amphitheater.

There will be live demonstrations like K-9 exercises, road paving, and tons of kids activities at this family-friendly event. Check out the excavators, mowers, loaders, and plows up close and personal. Answer burning questions such as, “what happens to water after it goes down the drain?”

Oh, and there will be food vendors, inflatables, and a monster truck too! Count us in. You can sign the waiver early here (which is ONLY needed to do the inflatables).

A Message from Jay 📬️ *

Hey! My name’s Jay. I’m a Fishers resident and Financial Advisor who’s been around since Olio was a 2 lane road. And now we’re building our new office near there!

Most people think that if they talk to an advisor like me, they’ll be expected to move their accounts to that advisor. The concept of a ‘second opinion’ doesn’t really exist in the money world. I’m out to change that… The Million Dollar Miner process is a second option with no expectation that you will work with me ongoing.

But it's even better than that.  It’s a review that guarantees to find you at least $1,000,000 of additional lifetime wealth/income.

So, do you have enough confidence in your current retirement advisor, to get a second opinion? Call me directly at 317-513-5785  or visit my website www.milliondollarminer.com

The Happenings

What are these rocks and why are they stacked like this?

That’s for you to find out and upgrade your Knowledge at the ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday (05/22) from 4-7 pm at the Fishers Library. If you can’t make it, we’ll update you Friday 😄

Zoopolis: Tortoise Racing 🏁

This is another one of those “exactly what it sounds like” events. The Zoo will be racing tortoises on Wednesday (05/22) at 11:30 am sharp. Because… racing. Learn more.

Girls night out at BluePeppermint Boutique

BluePeppermint Boutique will be hosting a Girls Night Out shopping event where you can take advantage of 25% off clothing and shoes while you sip complimentary wine. Hawley Trucker Hat Bar will also be there creating custom hats for you. Is this not the best mid-week slump bump? Wednesday (05/22) from 5-8 pm.

Support teachers by drinking 🍺

Every pint you drink at Sun King this Thursday = $1 in the bank for Teachers Treasures, which helps local schools in Marion county. As good of a reason as any to get some drinks in!

Local Business

Hello Meijer

New renderings of the Meijer that’s going in just north of Schoolhouse 7 Cafe were released. It’s big, and yes — it will include a gas station.

Bonus: I get emails from time to time asking what’s up with Hy-Vee: I have no idea. There still isn’t an update on the city’s site and last I was told, ball is in Hy-Vee’s court to make this happen.

Goodbye piles of paper 👋

Would you rather:

  1. Carry a backpack full of paper medical records every time you needed to take your child to a doctor

  2. Bring your phone and have access to everything from the above

If you chose option 2, let me introduce you to local residents Jean Ross and Jim McIntosh, who were recently featured in the IBJ for creating that option. Their app, Primary Record, is a medical recordkeeping app that centralizes and digitizes medical information. It makes it easy for you, your family, and your doctors to get better care by being organized. It’s always great to see local innovation winning, so check them out if this is something you’d use!

Want to work for the city?

The City of Fishers currently has jobs posted ranging from interns, mechanics, public health nurses, parks department coordinators, and more. Salaries are listed for every position. Everyone I speak with that works for the city speaks highly of it. And some city jobs were given a $1000+ raise yesterday 👀 Tell them Fishers Digest sent you if you apply!

PS: Do you want to see more jobs like these posted here?

Construction This Week

Here’s a high-level. If you’re new here, these are only recent changes to the weekly reports Fishers sends out.

  • Developer said construction will start on 141st/SR 37 shortly after one of the lanes on 146th/Allisonville Road roundabout project open up. Which should be mid-June

  • 141st and Promise Road roundabout construction will start this Summer. This is a Noblesville project

  • A map view of all the roads being resurfaced right now

  • Sweet Briar neighborhood is on the list this week to get sidewalk updates

If you prefer a map view, this map usually has where construction is happening. It’s usually accurate!

Thanks!
