Golfing in Fishers 🏌️⛳️

The beautiful River Glen Course

The weather lately is proving the best days of golf are ahead of us. So why not play a round of golf locally? And better yet, why not give you the down low on each of the public courses around Fishers?

Here’s the ranking. To quote our expert writer, Frank St. George, “None of these courses are easy, but if I had to rank them on difficulty I’d go with easiest to hardest:”

  1. Gray Eagle — Unique layout, easy Par 3s, tougher Par 5s.

  2. River Glen — Picturesque, natural hazards abound, including the White River.

  3. Ironwood — Lots of variety in 27 holes, some delicate shotmaking required, trees and lakes.

But this is only half the story. Frank published an awesome guide with more details you need to know, and a bonus of two courses you should give a shot. Our goal is to rank every course in Hamilton County🏌️‍♂️

Trash talk this AM 🗑️

This morning (Tuesday) at 9 a.m., the Board of Public Works will meet to approve the city-managed trash contract with Republic. They’ve moved the meeting to a bigger room in anticipation of folks showing up. Here’s some key details:

  • The contract would lock Fishers into a 10-year contract with Republic.

  • Year One is $16.39/mo and includes trash, recycling, and leaf pick up.

We have a full guide on all the available public details. But there are still many unanswered questions. To rapid fire a few off the top of my head: Why did Carmel get a better rate than Fishers (lower $ + 6-year contract), what will happen to existing WM customers cancel fees, what if Republic doesn’t deliver?

So maybe those will be answered there, maybe not! If you can’t attend, it will likely be streamed here.

Goodbye, Plumbers Supply Co building 🫡

Normally this news would be dropped in our Tuesday construction section below. But for some reason I was recently wondering what was going to happen to this building.

Well, here is exactly what Fishers posted for this week’s construction update:

Lane Restrictions on 116th st
On Wednesday, August 14 there will be lane restrictions in place from 9am to 3pm on 116th street between Municipal Drive and Lantern Road. Crews will be demolishing the old Plumbers Supply Building.
