The Digest
Learn the digital world = win an iPad 🍎
I’m aware this title sounds like the intro to a scam. Fortunately, we have the coolest library in the US. This is a totally real event.
Throughout the month, if you attend just one digital literacy class at the library + fill out their survey after the class, you’re in for a chance to win an iPad.
Email basics
Cybersecurity basics
Computer basics (Windows)
Mobile phone basics (IOS or Android)
Video conferencing basics
I really wouldn’t miss this one. Register here for a class before they book up.
Should I post info on the upcoming rental cap discussions?
Rental cap discussions flirt with a political no-go line that this newsletter has. Many community leaders and businesses have voiced strong opinions. I’ve been asked enough times that I want to ask you, the reader.
Do you want me to publish these opinions on our site and curate them here for you?

🎨 New Art Inbound

Heads up, trail people. The 116th Street tunnel will be closed this week (April 7-11) while they install some fresh artwork. You'll need to take the stairs on either side of 116th if you're walking or biking through.
A small inconvenience for hopefully a fun glow-up! Can't wait to see what they're putting in there. 🎨
Trail Living Done Right 🏠️ *
Check out this 2020 townhome that sits right in the middle of some Nickel Plate action.
While developers charge $800K for new builds a few blocks away, this 3-bed spot lets you join the “uptown vibe” without the uptown price tag.
The previous owner barely lived here (it was their second home), and they might throw in everything—including a portable sauna.

Local Business
Hy-Vee: The Grocery Store Ghost 👻

Remember the Hy-Vee that was supposed to grace Fishers like... three years ago? Yeah, they're still in grocery purgatory.
Mayor Fadness told the IBJ that they still haven't heard back from them on when they will break ground. But he does know they want a roundabout at 134th Street and Olio Road.
Here’s the kicker… there is no roundabout currently planned for there 😂
When they announced the news in 2022, they had very little competition. Now there will be a Target and Meijer within 5 minutes of the area - and both are on track to open before it likely would.
So, will we ever see the Iowa-based chain in Fishers? Maybe. Let us know what you think below 👇️
Do you think Hy-Vee will ever open in Fishers? |
Where’s the biscuits?! 🍞
Looking at these fresh renderings of The Union at Fishers (a mixed development planned right in IKEA), I spotted signs for a TON of businesses. And it got me thinking.
Vicious Biscuits announced they were coming to Fishers last year. We’re still waiting on that flaky goodness. Since no one's officially said Vicious is off the table, I'm placing my safe bet that one of those Union storefronts has their name on it.
Paris Baguette Coming in Hot 🥐
Paris Baguette (a fancy international bakery chain with 4,000+ locations) is eyeing Fishers for one of their first Indy-area cafes! Think self-serve islands of breads and pastries, a window where you can watch cake artists do their thing, and everything from $5 breakfast sandwiches to Instagram-worthy $47 cakes. The Fishers spot will be the fourth to open after Carmel, Greenwood, and Zionsville, so while we'll have to wait our turn, just know those weekend brunch plans are about to get a serious upgrade. ✨
Congrats, Justin Kirby! 🏀
Fishers’ very own Justin Kirby just landed on the 2025 Indiana All-Stars list! The 6'4" Miami of Ohio commit was a monster for Fishers this season, dropping 13.1 points per game while shooting a ridiculous 67% from the field (including 41% from downtown).
Best of luck and congrats on the achievement!
Tornado Stats + Good News
The National Weather Service reported there were 12 tornadoes in the state last Wednesday. Two of those touched down just nearby Fishers (see map above).
The best news: No one was injured or killed 🙏
Bonus good news: Carmel will waive the fees associated with rebuilding damages for 67 homes and businesses. They’re also looking to finalize what other help they can provide for future situations like this. The IndyStar goes deeper and shared hundreds of images from the storm here.

Tonight’s game will feature $5 domestic beers, and $6 craft beers.
