The Digest

☃️ Winter Pickleball

Pro tip: Pickleball is fun. It’s so fun that you should know it’s still possible to play in the winter. So here’s a list we compiled on good places to play indoors during the winter:

  • Lifetime Fitness at Castle Creek has beginner leagues all the way to advanced. The newest beginner clinic starts Dec 13th

  • Community Sports and Wellness in Pendleton also has beginner leagues. And some other fun programs like “cardio Pickleball”

  • Zip City downtown has a massive number of courts and a beginner league starting December 14th.

  • IRC has some courts, but they aren’t as “all-in” on pickleball like the others are

It’s happening

About a month ago, 15% of the readers of this newsletter filled out a poll. It was a simple question: Should trash be managed by the city? To give you an idea, typically between 1-3% of readers will fill in a poll.

So yeah. It was pretty significant. I ended up mentioning this in November’s City Council meeting, where the mayor let us know that the city is indeed looking at options. They plan to have something in front of the council by early next year.

Now is the time for you to give your feedback on your experience to the CITY. Review the questions and submit here!

The current library director, Edra Waterman, announced they are leaving the Fishers/Noblesville. December 22 will be her last day. She plans to take on the Anderson library in a similar role.

The HEPL Board of Trustees will be meeting today at the Noblesville location at 4 to discuss hiring a new library CEO.

Hot…juicy… LOBSTER*

Yep. I’m talking about the Lobster Escargot from HC Tavern.

Each lobster claw is dunked in garlic butter, havarti cheese and served with Tuscan bread. It’s the real deal. In fact, we’ll go on the record and say it’s the best appetizer in Indiana.

I am telling you this for a few reasons. Number 1: If you haven’t tried it, you need to. Number 2: You can get a 20% bonus gift card with a gift card purchase of $125+.

If you plan to eat at any of their fine establishments over the next year, this is a MUST purchase. That 20% can get you a Lobster Escargot for free.

Offer ends December 31st.

🎄 Local Business Lights

The next 10 days are full of clearish skies and weirdly warm temps. The ideal combination for going out and looking at lights. Here’s a few of the top events around Indy for lights:

Christmas Nights of Lights at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Drivable

Merry Prairie Holiday at Conner Prairie Walkable

Circle of Lights at Monument Circle. FREE! Walkable and drivable

Winterfields at Newfields. Walkable

Christmas at the Zoo. Walkable

While it’s fun to play the game without a guidebook, it never hurts to have it on hand. In fact, I’d even say this is even better than just a standard guidebook. It’s a listing of resident-submitted light displays in Hamilton County. You get a description, location, and even a preview. Some homes have radio stations to tune into. Check it out here! You can probably hit ~10 houses an hour.

But what do you think? Where are the absolute must-see places? Reply to this email to let me know!

Nothing in this section is sponsored. It’s just things you should know.
