The Digest

2024 budget highlights

One big thing: Mayor Fadness’ vision for 2024 is here. Invest in teachers, lower taxes, spend some surplus, and re-start 141st/SR37 by April 🙌

Fishers has a large amount of “extra” cash. Most of this money came from Carmel’s excess income tax that gets sent to Fishers (sorry, Carmel!). The mayor wants to spend some of it rather than exist as a number on a screen. Here’s how:

Go deeper: Fadness said the number one issue shared via public polls is better walkability in Fishers. This means new pathways, restrooms, and updates where needed.

❤️ What wasn’t polled is the proposal for a 500k teachers grant. He asked that no government officials be a part of this board. Teachers only. Everyone loves this so far.

You can view the entire presentation here. He dives into much more than we’ve shared here. If you want to attend the next meeting, details are below. It is your $$, after all!

💵 Finance Committee Meeting | Wednesday, August 23 | 5 pm | Ten Municipal Drive, Pavilion Conference room

Library board meeting

Laura Alerding’s last meeting as library board president is tomorrow. TBD on who will be the next president.

💡Situational awareness: The library is a mess. Alerding and other members were allegedly overheard talking about library matters at a local coffee shop. The board has also canceled two meetings, indicating a code for removing a board member.

Here are the details if you’d like to attend.

HEPL Board Meeting | Thursday, August 24 | 3:00 pm | 1 Library Plaza, Noblesville, IN 46060 (Noblesville Library)
