PLUS: more snow, trash starts next week, and weekend events
Good Friday Morning. This is Fishers Digest.
2025 is going to be an awesome year to be here and a part of this newsletter. Why? I’ll share them all with you over the next few weeks. I’ll need your help as readers for many of them!
Today I’m introducing a new section: Money Snacks. Check it out below and let me know what you think. See ya!
-Skyler
In today’s digest:

What to do if you got a parking collection bill
Brand new Money Snacks section
Curated events and upcoming
This issue is 1,355 words, a 4.5-minute read.
The Digest
Republic Trash Pickup officially starts next week
At this point, you should have your new Republic bins (one trash, one recycling bin).
Here are two links to check out before next week if you don’t know your schedule:
This nice color-coded tool for trash/recycling times. Just enter your address in the top right.
A brochure from Republic with service specifics. Like renting additional bins. You might have received a physical copy of this!
Trash lore 🪑
From 10,000 ft.
Many years ago (like 10) no one wanted city managed trash.
A few years ago Waste Management bought Ray’s for lots of $$$ and gave a masterclass in how to not acquire a well liked trash business. It led to endless frustration with missed pickups, high costs, etc.
I polled readers in Dec ‘23 asking if sentiment around city managed trash changed. It did. So I spoke at City Council sharing people were fed up. Fishers was ahead and already working on putting an RFP out. Republic, Waste Management, and Priority trash all bid.
Republic won. Now we are here.
Fishers Event Center Response to Parking
If you received a letter like the above and paid for parking at the new event center, please email “[email protected]” and let them know. They were mistakenly sent even if you paid 😅 I was one of those people!
Despite the bumps, the company running it shared with Current in Fishers they are happy with the results so far — with 90% of people paying.
what the snow man
If you are wishing for more snow… well, you may get your wish. We’re looking at 2-4 inches today.
If you’re curious and wonder how snow plowing is determined, here’s the breakdown with maps of each street and their priority.

Money Snacks 💵
So here’s my idea:
Share real-life money stories from people here in Fishers/Hamilton County.
How? By readers answering this survey with detailed, actionable personal finance insights from a range of income levels.
It might sound bold. But hearing how real neighbors manage their budgets, savings, and big purchases could be surprisingly helpful—and maybe a bit fun.
Local advice on how to earn, spend, and invest money is hard to find. And everyone has a local hack or two to share.
I need your help to bring this to life. Here are the details:
It’s anonymous
All questions are optional
It will take about 10 minutes to fill out
I’m hopeful at least one of you brave readers will fill this out, and inspire others when they see the end result ❤️ If not, we’ll shelve the idea.
Check out the details and questions below if you want to participate.
The Happenings

Ignite's Historic Home Opener 🏐 🔥
First serve in Fishers' pro volleyball era happens Saturday at 7 pm. The Ignite join only seven other cities nationwide with a Pro Volleyball Federation team. Seated tickets are sold-out, but you can still catch their debut against Orlando's Valkyries - standing room tickets are $30 (at time of writing).

🎲 Cards for a Cause at Legion Post 470
Get ready to deal some good! The Fishers American Legion is hosting a popular Euchre Tournament this Saturday. Every hand helps HVAF of Indiana (helping homeless and at-risk veterans). So while you're trying to avoid getting euchred, you're actually helping our local heroes.

🎨 From Pain to Paint: C. Pyle's 'White Noise'
Abstract artist C. Pyle transformed a near-fatal crash into something beautiful - and you can see it this Friday at Fishers Art Center. Her new collection explores white's hidden complexities, turning trauma into texture.
