Remembering 9/11 From Indiana
Friday is the 25th anniversary of the attacks on 9/11 and there are many places right here in Indiana where you can pay your respects. This article by Jarred Porter of Get Indiana breaks down where all the memorials and ceremonies are taking place around the state, but here are some highlights closest to home.
Ceremonies
The City of Noblesville and Hamilton County hold a joint ceremony at 11 a.m. at The Silos at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Memorials
The Indiana 9/11 Memorial on the canal downtown has two 11,000-pound beams from the Twin Towers, a granite military monument for the nine Hoosiers killed that day and more.

At Oaklawn Memorial Gardens an indoor atrium memorial carries 2,977 medallions, one name each, with a blue Indiana-shaped medallion added for the nine Hoosiers.

The Hamilton County Fallen Firefighters Memorial along the White River just west of the county judicial center has a World Trade Center girder that sits beside a bronze statue of a grieving firefighter.

Hotel at Saxony
For two years it was put on hold, but now the plans are back on track as the Fishers Planned Unit Development Committee approved the site plans for an Atwell Suites.
The new 124-room hotel will be right in the Saxony area at the northwest corner of E. 134th Street and Olio Road. The hotel will also offer co-working and lounge spaces, a small patio and limited food and drink options.
Atwell Suites properties are known for their complimentary hot breakfasts and their spacious and stylish suites. They are a part of the InterContinental Hotel Group.
HEPL Wants Your Input
The third Hamilton East Public Library branch is expected to break ground in 2027 off of Olio Road, between 146th & 156th streets and you have an opportunity to share your ideas for this new location.
Stop by the Fishers location on Sept. 22 or the Noblesville location on Sept. 23 from 5 – 7 p.m. and share your thoughts on design, atmosphere, spaces, services and amenities and more.
