The worst cook in Fishers

Sami White, a 2012 Fishers graduate, is probably not the worst cook in Fishers. But she did participate in the long-running “Worst Cook in America” show. We won’t spoil the show for you (but she did do well 😉). You can watch it on Food Network or Hulu. Go deeper.

Superintendent sunsets 🌅 

One big thing: Matt Kegley is the new interim HSE superintendent.

and another: Dr. Yvonne Stokes is out. Her full contract (until June of next year) will be paid out. Including a one-time annuity her original contract had.

Why it matters: The operating referendum for HSE requires a vote in November. An event like this erodes public trust — and could impact the referendum's ability to pass. City council, school board, and other public officials all support the referendum.

Our opinion: It’s not clear why this all happened. It’s also unlikely it will ever be — as the separation agreement prevents all parties from disclosing.

Sleepy city?

One big thing: Mayor Fadness gave his annual State of Fishers. And says Fishers is no longer a “sleepy suburb”. Lol. Facts.

Shaking things up, the Mayor held a panel with three department heads. The police, fire department, and public health. Read more from local journalist Larry in Fishers here.

Geist Half & 5k

The most scenic run of the year is here. With the City of Fishers team reimagining the race experience.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Sign-up is still open here

• Packet Pickup & Expo is on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 11:00 am - 8:00 pm at Grace Fishers Church (12450 Olio Road, Fishers)

• The race is on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 7:00 am

• On race day, parking is available at Fall Creek Intermediate School, Fall Creek Elementary School, Fall Creek Junior High, and Grace Church Fishers. No parking at start or finish areas!

Bring your race bib to certain restaurants (including new places like Mochinut) for race day treats. And if you’re not racing, there will still be parties and entertainment to enjoy 💯
