One big thing (for business owners): Call 911 too much and the city will fine you.

Last month, a new ordinance started. The goal is to spend time keeping Fishers safe — by preventing time wasters from calling.

Why it matters: Fishers has spent obscene amounts of time, resources, and tax-payer money on excessive calls.

• 1 hotel had 29 calls in 3 months

• 2017-2021 there were 5,300 calls* by just 8 businesses 😮‍💨

Fishers won’t name who this is primarily aimed at. But we do know this. They are big retailers, hotels, and mostly on 96th Street. The ordinance doesn't impact schools, healthcare, or government locations.

The last post may have targeted businesses, but this one’s for everyone else. While email and phone scams are always happening, it’s getting rampant in Hamilton County. One in particular is a voicemail of people claiming to be from the sheriff’s office. They might tell you about civil service, missed jury duty, or similar.

DO NOT listen to them!!! Lol. Seriously. The sheriff’s office is never going to call you personally about your jury duty. And FedEx will never call you either and demand payment in Google Play gift cards 😂

🔦 Non-profit spotlight: KassieKares

KassieKares is a local non-profit bringing change to the world. And to change the world, you need to see the world. Students from Indy and beyond are able to travel through scholarships and programs from KassieKares. The hope is for young leaders to learn, grow, and come home to spread the love of travel and helping others.

This Thursday, they’ve partnered with local winery Daniel’s Vineyard for a fun night of trivia. Enjoy local wine, win some prizes, and support your local non-profits.

Here’s a high-level overview of what’s going on this week:

• Lane restrictions on 96th Street between Walmart entrance and Lantern Road starting Tuesday, Sept. 26

• Resurfacing project expanded to include Cottingham Estates

• Geist Greenway construction starting again at Valley Crossing Drive

• Tree trimming on 116th and Allisonville started last Monday. Will go on for several weeks.
