The Digest

Superfunded schools

One big thing: HSE Schools are awesome. They want more funding to stay awesome.

OneZone’s Chamber of Commerce hosted a State of the Schools event on Wednesday. Both HSE and Carmel’s Superintendents were speakers. The theme was making sure students are “ready for the world.”

And yes. They both talked about the need to pass operating referendums for the schools.

So here’s a cheat sheet on what you need to know for the referendum:

  • It will be on the ballot to vote “yes” or “no” on November 7th

  • The tax rate is lower than 2016’s approved rate

  • Not passing = $26m less in funding for the school.

    • HSE is one of the lowest-funded in the state without it

Weekend Guide

Mural unveiling

A new mural is being unveiled this Saturday at Alderman Automotive. The mural’s design features real, local horses submitted by residents when the artist started designing the mural.

📚️ History: Fishers used to be called “Mudsock” for the mud that covered horses’ legs in the 1800s.

This is a free, family AND dog-friendly event — food trucks, photographers, Fishers Agripark, and more will be out.

Club Day is this Saturday at the Fishers Farmer Market. Come check out all the local clubs Fishers has to offer! You’ll find non-profits, political groups, faith groups, and many more. Runs from 8-12 pm, the same hours as the market.

🔁 Pro Saturday Event Route: Enjoy the Farmer’s Market at 8 am, meet some clubs, then head to the Mudsock Mural unveiling at Alderman Automotive at 10.
