The Digest

Thank you, Adam 🦸

Jackson (left) hugging Adam (right) after the ceremony

Adam Barr probably didn’t expect to become a local hero, but damn he deserves to be. A month ago, a car crashed into a Fishers home and burst into flames. Had Adam not been there — and brave enough to act — Jackson might not be with us today.

And because of that bravery he was awarded the prestigious Citizen Life Saver award.

High-five, Adam! ✋

You can watch the police bodycam footage here.

The trash fairy is coming ✨

Official start date for Republic trash: January 13th, 2025

You may wake up to the trash fairy 🧚 ✨ leaving you a new bin between Dec 30 and Jan 10 if you don’t already have one.

They will also be visiting your mailbox with your new route details sometime soon, with a web page in case it doesn’t make it.

The City of Fishers has many answers to common questions, and fringe ones like can you opt out of the service? (no). Or what to do if your HOA is currently managing your trash cost (talk to them). It’s all on their site here 🙂

September Recap 🏄️

It’s not our style to spend time on the past, but this newsletter has been growing like crazy so here’s something to fill you in on what’s been popular around here.

📚️ The HEPL is building another library, probably on Olio Road. They sent out a survey asking amenities the community would be interested in like a coffee shop, study rooms, adult workshops, maker space, and much more. Hopefully we hear the results of it soon!

🔍️ Some internet sleuthing of the Fishers Restaurant Dashboard shows that a new place called Cava may be coming to Fishers. Looks like a Mediterranean sweetgreen.

🍕Yelp dropped the top 100 pizza spots in the Midwest, and not one but TWO restaurants in Fishers ranked. I Tre Mori and Passione Pizza.

🍂 This year’s Harvest Fest was a hit. You will have to wait till next year to experience it again, but there are plenty more events by the Arts Council this year. Like the Winter Arts Market happening at Sun King all December (which you can apply for here)

♻️ The city recycling event came and went too. If you missed that, the Hamilton County Hazardous Waste is your one-stop shop for pretty much all the things that happened there. Link here for that.

The Happenings

ICYMI from last Tuesday’s issue:

> Carmel’s Oktoberfest is tonight from 6-10 pm at City Center Plaza 🍻
> The corn maze at Conner Prairie is now open. Visit Tuesday-Sunday to navigate your way through two mazes, which make up 13.6 acres in total!

Blake Shelton 🎟️

The Fishers Event Center secured Blake Shelton for a concert on March 29, 2025. Tickets officially go on sale at 10 am today. Last we checked, there are still some decent seats left!

Weekend preview 📆

Fall-A-Palooza 🍁

You’re invited to The Yard at Fishers District this Saturday from 12-3 PM. There will be free pumpkins, games, crafts, a cider bar, a hayride, and even a pet costume contest. Local band Indy Polkamotion and a master pumpkin carver will provide entertainment. Details here.

A tunnel of terror if you dare 🚗

In October, even the local car washes are getting in on the fright! Visit Prime Car Wash in Fishers Friday-Sunday this month and brace yourself for a tunnel of terror. Clowns, zombies, and a graveyard of those who (yikes!) didn’t make it out alive! If you survive, you’ll leave with a clean car and a bag of goodies. $20 per car.

Readers, writers, and scholars

If you are any of those things, you may enjoy this Saturday’s Lit fest at the Harrison Center for Arts. Tickets are free, but going quickly. There are lots of fun looking workshops and things to do throughout the day.

Steins Up! 🍻 GermanFest is Saturday

Bier, brats, and wiener dogs! The Athenaeum’s 16th Annual GermanFest kicks off this Saturday, October 5 from 12-6 PM.

What’s in store? Live music, pretzels, dachshund races 🐾, and endless fun. Tickets start at $15 if you buy them early, with VIP options available. Tickets here.

Halloween weekend roundup reminders

🦴 If you’re a member of the Children’s Museum, the member preview party is Saturday from 6:30-9:30 PM. Be the first to journey to Boneyard Beach, take part in a costume contest, + more. Tickets for purchase here.

Tequila for Tequila people*

Tequila can be overwhelming. Wouldn't it be great to have an expert guide you to the perfect one for every occasion? Except… most of us can’t hire a master distiller to join us at happy hour.

But we can all enjoy Hiatus Tequila—a brand that’s done the hard work for you. No need to guess between Blanco, Reposado, or Añejo. Each bottle is crafted to perfection, whether you're sipping neat, mixing a Margarita, or celebrating with friends.

With award-winning flavors like fresh agave, caramel, and toasted oak, every sip of Hiatus takes you on a journey. It’s like having a personal guide to the world of premium tequila—minus the consulting fee.

You can pick this up at many local bars like Foxgardin and Ale Emporium, or shop online here.

Local Business

First Jamaican concept in Fishers 🇯🇲

Scotchy Jamaican Grill is set to spice up Fishers starting next Friday, October 11, at the Fishers Test Kitchen. 🌶️ Founded by Jamaican native Marlon Ricardo Llewellyn and his son Bryce, Scotchy will be serving up authentic Jamaican cuisine every Friday and Saturday from 5-10 pm.

The grand opening kicks off at 5 with a ribbon-cutting. Come hungry, leave very happy.

INCOG BioPharma ⚙️

The image is just some dirt. But it’s opportunity. INCOG BioPharma Services is investing a cool $125 million for a second building in Fishers and broke ground this week. What does this mean for you? ~100 new jobs with decent salaries up for grabs right here locally. Their goal for 2029 is employees having an average wage of $72,800.

There are currently 23 open jobs on their website here.
