🍦 Who's scooping Fishers' best ice cream?

Alright alright, who the heck has Fishers' best scoops? With National Ice Cream Day coming up on July 21st, we're on a mission with SMARI to crown a frozen treat champion. It has to be done.

All you need to do is click your favorite and tell us what to get/why. We’ll take it from there.

🍴 State Fair food lineup: Unhinged or Onpoint?

The Indiana State Fair just dropped their new food lineup, and it's wild. There’s some good looking and Here's what we thought were the most outrageous 😆

• All-American Mary: A bloody mary that's basically an entire cookout in a glass. Corn, slider, fries - the works!

• Bratzilla: A bratwurst sandwich so monstrous it might need its own zip code.

• Dill Pickle Dr. Pepper: No comment

• Peanut Butter & Jelly Chicken Wings: Your childhood lunch grew up and got rebellious.

And that's just a few of what’s new. State Fair starts August 2 and there’s a LOT new that we haven’t covered here. Docking Dogs, baby animal feeding, a duck race, splashpad zone, and more. Check out the State Fair Site to start making your plans.

What’s the word on city managed trash? 🗑️

We're in the home stretch for the city-managed trash collection decision. The Board of Public Works is giving an update this Tuesday at 9 am but this probably isn’t the meeting to attend. The real action will be in August when a public hearing and contract approval meeting are announced. This will be your chance to weigh in before any final decisions are made. We’ll let you know when that’s announced.

Rewind ⏪️

Almost 10 years ago, Fishers released what looks like their first newsletter/magazine - Fishers Town Talk. They ended up releasing 82 of these bad boys before pulling the plug in June 2021. So what was going on 10 yrs ago?

• Dog Day Afternoon feat. Woodstock by the Hamilton Humane Society

• Launch Fishers was only 1.5 years old

• The Saxony Farmers market was still around

• The Youth Mentoring Initiative shared their goal of 600 students impacted (according to their website they are at 645 🎉 )

• Lots of events, many the same as today, like the Blues Fest

Weekend preview 📆

ICYMI from Tuesday’s issue:

> The Brickyard 400 is this weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There are events happening all day today, tomorrow, and finally the race on Sunday.
> Monsoon Madness hosted by the City of Fishers is this Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm at Holland Park
> The Hamilton County 4H fair is happening all weekend at the HamCo Fairgrounds.

Bottleworks market 🍾

Looks like we've got a perfect Saturday for some local shopping and fun in the Bottleworks District. If you’ve never been, it’s a chic part of Indianapolis where they redeveloped an old Coca Cola bottle facility. The market this Saturday will have unique crafts, vintage items, and art from local artisans. While you're there, we also recommend The Garage Food Hall or trying your hand at duck pin bowling at Pins Mechanical Co. Saturday (07/20) from 11 am - 7 pm. Details here.

Kid’s taking over the Farmers Market

From 8 AM to noon, prepare to be charmed by vendors who still count their age on their fingers. This Saturday's farmers market will be showcasing their handmade and homegrown goods. Should be a fun one. Learn more here.

This is cool - Parlor Doughnuts wants to create a Fishers-inspired flavor! They're asking folks to drop flavor ideas in the comments on their post. If your suggestion wins, it could end up on the menu at their Fishers shop.
