Flat Fork Flip

One big thing: The Fishers Plan commission will meet today to approve rezoning 2 lots (see above) to build up to 220 single-family homes.

Recap: In June, Ryan Homes developers laid out grand visions for a Flat Fork PUD — a blend of commercial hotspots with new homes. But people had concerns.

• Would it bring too much traffic? 

• What will happen to my home value?

• Why go commercial in the middle of neighborhoods?

The community's feedback was clear: remove the commercial component. A staggering 240 change.org signatures and a few months of meetings. That is no joke. The 2024 Fishers Budget had barely three people speak up during public comment, which is millions of our tax dollars.

Present day: The commercial element is now gone. The plan now solely focuses on residential homes, and the vote should pass for final approval tonight. Early congrats to those who pushed to make this happen! 💪 

Community power

Last week, I interviewed Sajjad Shah (you can view pieces of the interview with him here). He is the owner of MOTW Coffee on 116th Street.

The day after our interview, MOTW posted a fundraiser on their Instagram. They wanted to raise money for a frequent customer who lives with Autism and walks to work next door every day.

In just 21 minutes, they blew past their goal of $3,000. They ended up raising almost $7,500 in addition to the e-bike. Preston’s reaction is priceless, and MOTW continues to set an example for businesses giving back to the community they serve.
