The Digest

The latest Fishers Flag Crawl dropped 🇺🇸

From Tried and True Alehouse’s Instagram!

Tried and True Alehouse in Greenwood is the latest spot to score not one, but two Brotherhood Designs flags. Why is this Fishers news? Because the business was started by two Fishers firefighters, Scott and Rob, who decided to turn old firehoses into American flags instead of letting them fill up landfills.

And guess what? You don’t have to trek to Greenwood to see one of these magnificent flags. There are six local businesses in Fishers proudly displaying them. Chances are, you've already seen one without even realizing it. Here’s where to find them:

  • Ale Emporium

  • FoxGardin Family Kitchen

  • Parks Place Pub

  • White’s Ace Hardware

  • Hub & Spoke Building

  • King Jugg Brewing Co

The cool part: if you visit at least 3 of these spots, snap a pic, and tag Brotherhood Designs on Instagram, they’ll hook you up with a free shirt as part of their #FishersFlagCrawl 👕

How to get involved with volunteer opportunities 👷

Volunteers help run many of the amazing programs from non-profits, businesses, communities, and government sponsored events around the city. In 2023, 5% of the city was registered to volunteer with over 10,000 hours of time donated.

If you want to be part of those growing numbers, here are a few new ongoing needs:

  • A few more for spots open for helping with this weekend’s Boo Bash. All days have needs! (link)

  • 1-2 people/month for monthly Mayor’s breakfast at City Hall. (link)

  • All spots open to help for a weekly Veteran’s woodworking program at the Fishers Makerspace (link)

A standout athlete you should know: Ryan Thembulembu 🏈

Can you imagine how cool it would be as a young athlete to see yourself included in Sports Illustrated? Fishers High School student Ryan Thembulembu doesn’t have to imagine. Sports Illustrated recently curated a list of Indiana’s top 20 high school football athletes. And he made the list by cooking multiple TDs in the few games Fishers has played this year. Keep it up and congrats, Ryan!

Cashing in on Taylor 💰️

Taylor Swift towering over Indianapolis on the JW Marriott

Taylor Swift will be ending her tour here in Indianapolis. So if you’re an enjoyer, be on the lookout for local business pop-up events. Like Le Macaron Fishers hosting an Eras Party this Saturday from 10 am - 8 pm. Or Fishers Park's Battle of the Eras DJ Duel next Wednesday from 7 - 10 pm.

And we recommend checking out Le Macarons event because in exchange for going and posting about it on social media, you’ll enter yourself to win free macarons for a year 🤤

Get a spooky carwash 👻

With Halloween around the corner, there’s still time to visit and enjoy a pretty unique activity — a scary carwash. For just $20, you can go through Prime Carwash’s “Tunnel of Terror” and hope you make it out to the other side. Here’s their remaining schedule:

  • Fridays & Saturday: 7:30 - 10 pm

  • Sundays: 7 - 9 pm (better for families)

  • Halloween (October 31): 7:30 - 11 pm

Early voting ‼️

Hamilton County released a nice tool to help you with early voting if you want to knock that out early this year. Here is the link to that tool.

For the majority of you, the closest location should be Billericay Park and Holland Park. Here are their hours:

  • October 23 + 24: 2 - 7 pm

  • October 25 + 26: 10 - 3 pm

  • October 30 + 31: 2 - 7 pm

  • November 1 + 2: 10 - 3 pm

A beer-lovers book club 📚

Do you like books? How about beer? Well then Books on Tap might be the perfect book club for you. The group is hosted by HEPL and meets at MashCraft Fishers on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm (happening this Wednesday). This is an 18+ book club, just FYI. You can join here.

Piazza Market is helping you prep for Turkey Day

The Piazza Market is this Saturday from 9 am -3 pm. Pro tip: the market is holding their end of season sale this weekend 🥩

And if you’re a planner, they are taking Thanksgiving preorders now. Have someone else prepare your fresh turkey, holiday ham, and locally made pies. Pickup is Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 11216 Fall Creek Rd.

It’s really something else to see this come together and all the teams that will be playing soon at the event center. Just over a month until it opens!

Local Business

British fare coming to Downtown Fishers 🇬🇧

Max & Tilly’s, a new spot dishing up classic British fare, is set to open in the next couple of weeks on 116th at the First Internet Bank building. They’ll be serving fish and chips with plenty of proper pints to wash it all down. Cheers to that! 🍻

You can follow along on their Facebook until they announce an official opening date!

$300,000 🚗

Example of a suite pulled from their website

That’s the price tag for a custom, luxury garage suite coming to Fishers late next year, courtesy of Torque Motor Suites. Each climate-controlled unit starts at 1,600 sq. ft. and comes with a mezzanine level and a first-floor bathroom. You can even combine multiple units to suit your needs.

Wow. This is a totally epic business to gawk at and I hope they’re able to fill up their spaces with your luxury cars. If any of you need someone to come hang out and enjoy your cars just let me know 📱 They will be located behind Walmart on 96th Street near the old Fry’s Electronics building.

Bad day to be Russell Farms

I don’t think Russell Farms is having a good week anymore. Yesterday, a mom posted her interaction with one of the owners after being confused why her son was not getting paid what he was promised. The owner’s response wasn’t great to say the least. You can form your own opinions reading the post here, but things aren’t looking good for Russell Farms. The post has made it all over the country with people checking in from Virginia, Connecticut, and even as far as Australia. And their business Facebook page is being review bombed a bit. Oof.

Construction This Week

Here are new things to watch for this week:

  • Olio Road from the Geist Reservoir bridge to 126th will have intermittent lane closures all week. The Hamilton County Highway Department is upgrading some of the pedestrian walkways on the street!

  • 141st and Prairie Lakes roundabout detour is changing this week. Here is a map showing what it looks like

  • Construction at 96th and Allisonville is about to wrap up (phew!). The roundabout is tentatively scheduled to be open by the end of this month (with some minor enhancements to finish out next spring).

Check out the full construction report for this week here.

Thanks!
