The Digest

🏅 Officer of the year

Fishers own Jasmeet Singh is in the big leagues now. This past weekend, he was named Fishers officer of the year. Some of his impressive achievements were recovering 15 firearms, 9 stolen vehicles, and almost 90 arrests. Thank you for what you do. We’re cheering for your continued success, Officer Singh!

🏅Fire Department awards

The fire department also held their award ceremony this weekend — but their list is much longer. They gave out awards like rookie of the year, Roy Holland officer of the year, chiefs medal, and more. To find out who got what, read the press release here. Again, thank you for everything you do!

Quick headlines and things to know from all around 🌐

There are 20 remaining 5G tower permits left in Fishers. They are slowly being revoked as their 2-year time to build expires. These permits were issued to Verizon to construct 5g towers across Fishers, but for some reason stopped. They have not commented on why to anyone (link)

The Maple Del project failed. It would have brought $30m in apartments downtown. Now, the land is beginning the process of selling. Learn more about what the project wanted to be here.

Quote: “We’re only expecting an inch of snow”. Reality.

50 cent was “In da Kroger” last Friday. In case you missed it, all the bottles were pre-signed, with a minimum purchase of $100 to take a 5 second picture with him.

Muffin Judging

Each week this month, the library hosts a staff bake-off. The winner each week receives a 2024 Star Baker spoon, and of course a crown to go with it (pictured). I had the privilege of judging last Friday’s competition, which were muffins. There were blueberry, cinnamon apple, and lemon poppy seed. Let me tell you - the Fishers library staff knows how to bake 🧑‍🍳 They were all amazing. But the lemon poppy seed was next level. Hats off to all the staff who I met who were so nice.

Miebach Consulting

Miebach Consulting has opened their new HQ in Fishers. Their offices are located at The Link (ex-Navient building. The huge building near 116th/I-69). They promise it will bring ~22 high-paying jobs and $2.5 million in capital investment to Fishers. They’re also receiving:

  • A $77,000 matching grant for training new employees from Fishers

  • An incentive-based tax credit of $425,000 from the IEDC. To claim, they need to hire Hoosiers (it’s performance-based too)

🦐 Indy’s Hype Team

The 2024 All Star Weekend hosted in Indy looks like a success. Events were held throughout the weekend as we saw an influx of ~125k people in our city. Among those hyping up the city during the event were two local businesses, Lids and Huse Culinary. And to do that, they dropped a limited time collab of merch just for All Stars. It was pretty awesome.

Nothing in this section is sponsored. It’s just things you should know.
