Your Kitchen’s Beige Flag?*

We all have a "beige flag” — something harmless, but just a little... off. Does your home have one too? Maybe it's those old kitchen cabinets that have been there since forever. It's not bad, but let's face it, it could be a whole lot better.

At Spray-Net, we specialize in turning kitchens with “beige flags” into showstoppers. Our proprietary paint solutions will refresh your cabinets into something amazing. All backed by an industry leading 15 year warranty. Whatever your style, we’ve got the colors and finishes to match it.

The Digest

Oooohh…. Ahhhhh…. 96th Street Upgrades 📈

In Fall 2025, 96th street will look a little different. That’s thanks to a new bridge that’s all business during the day and a party at night, with multi-colored LEDs lighting up the deck. Getting this bridge up and walkable is one of the few cogs left to a complete Nickel Plate Trail.

When it’s finished, the trail will take you all the way from Indianapolis → Fishers → Noblesville and back around again 🔄

Fun fact: When they were showing this rendering earlier this year, it had tiny planes in the background as an homage to the airport nearby. Looks like those didn’t make the final cut!

Congrats, Jason 👏

Promotion alert! For 18 years, Jason Urban has been holding it down as the principal of Fishers High School. To put this in perspective:

  • If you are between 14 and 36 and went to Fishers High School, he was your principal!

Hats off to you and congratulations on your promotion to Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools. Hear it from Jason on his announcement video, thanking the community and what comes next.

☝️Answered: Where to take people from out of town

Last week, I casually asked where the heck to take folks from out-of-town locally to get the full Fishers experience. Here’s what was sent in (including mine):

  • 1933 Lounge

  • Sun King Brewery

  • Four Day Ray

  • I Tre Mori

  • Tiger Lily 2

Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (pronounced Choo-cheen-shahn) ☄️

Congratulations!! For being one of the people alive to see a once-in-80,000 years comet. We in Indiana have been blessed with many astral events this year and why not add one more.

You have until October 26th to see this comet in the sky, but chances diminish the longer you wait. Here’s how to look for it:

↘️ At dawn twilight, look east-southeast just above the horizon before sunrise
↙️ In the evening, look west-southwest a few minutes after sunset

And as if all that isn’t enough — we will probably continue to have events like last Thursday where you will be able to see the Northern Lights.

Official Trick-or-Treat Hours 🎃

Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Also, there is a global chocolate crunch affecting Indiana. Big candy makers are are going sans chocolate and upping numbers on treats like gummies. Sooo if you plan on handing chocolate out, it might be a good idea to scoop some up soon.

The Happenings

Your week preview 📆

We want your October to be spookishly good, so we rounded up all of the Halloween Happenings this month and stored them here.

🎃 Hot tip: lots of events are happening this week! Here are just a few:

  • Little Haunt on the Prairie (link)

  • Trick or Treat with Rapunzel, Belle, and cats (link)

  • A trip on the wizard express 🪄 (link)

“The world begins at a kitchen table. No matter what, we must eat to live.”

If you agree with that statement, then you might be interested in an upcoming event breaking down the recipe for a good community. Fishers seems to have one (see later on in this newsletter). If you want to discuss this with other friendly Hoosiers, one of the six discussions is happening at Thai Villa in Fishers on October 17th. Tickets are $30 here.

Beyond pumpkin painting 🌼

There are still a few spots left for the Fishers Flower Farm Pressed Flower Pumpkin Workshop on Wednesday from 6:30-8:30. Instructors will lead you through this fall-inspired craft using all natural materials on their private flower farm. A great way to celebrate the season and create some unique porch pumpkins.

Add a friend to your Howl-o-ween season 🐾

Humane Society for Hamilton County is hosting a “Hocus Pick-Us” adoption event now thru the end of October. Most pet adoptions are just $31! There are some seriously adorable furry friends. Here are nine pets who would especially love a forever home.

Local Business

Back Nine coming to Fishers ⛳️

With golf season wrapping up soon, here is something to look forward to. A new company announced their golf sim experience is coming to Fishers. There’s no info on where it will be when it will open. They offer over 250 courses to pick from, including iconic ones like Pebble Beach Golf Links and St. Andrews Links

And this is not to be confused with an existing Indianapolis business called Back 9 — which is a Top Golf competitor 😂

Another event announced for the Fishers Event Center

It’s hard to believe that in just over a month, Fishers Event Center will have its first ever public event — The Turnpike Troubadors on Nov 22.

Years of talking about this, paying 1% on food and bev sales, and even our sewer bill money helping make this happen. I hope for Fishers this turns out to be one of our greatest successes, and continues to collect cool people and businesses that make this an awesome place to be.

Tangents aside, you can now buy tickets for a funnyman show with Tom Segura here.

Move over Helium, Cardinal Comedy Club is here 🤣

Doors officially open on a brand new comedy club in Noblesville this Friday, October 19th. They plan to feature Indy’s best and up-and-coming comedians every Friday and Saturday. With beer, wine and other refreshments to make it even better.

Attending their official launch will cost you just $15, and can be purchased here.

Construction This Week

Nothing too new this week, so here’s a few snippets from this week’s report:

  • The roundabout at 126th and Southeastern Parkway is now open, but with active construction going on and intermittent lane restrictions. Corydon Dr. is also now open to traffic.

  • There are some updates to the interchange between State Road 37 and 141st Street. All traffic is accessible via the eastside, with north and south bound lanes open at all times on SR37View detour routes.

  • Access to and from Allisonville from 96th Street is now open. 96th Street across Allisonville is still restricted and there are no left turns.

Check out the full construction report for this week here.

Thanks!
