What’s up with Patachou

Rendering of what the final building will look like

Cafe Patachou's Fishers location is making steady progress towards a November opening. The exterior work is largely complete, with the building's core and shell now in place. Current efforts are now focused on behind-the-scenes work. Various utility companies are busy making connections for electricity, gas, and water.

For the interior, plans are finalized and moving through the city's permitting process. As of now, we are told there are no delays, and everything is proceeding as expected.

An accessible farmers market ❤️

Saturday is Accessibility and Inclusion Day at the Fishers Farmers Market! From 8 am - 12 pm, you’ll find the usual suspects along with other vendors and organizations dedicated to promoting local accessibility. Don’t miss out!

In line with this theme, I recently took my daughter, who uses a wheelchair, on a tour of Fishers restaurants. Check out my blog post highlighting the highs and lows of accessibility in our local dining spots. Did your favorite restaurant make the cut? 🤔

Maple Del - V2 🍁

The first go around of Maple Del didn't do so great... the project with apartments was abandoned. But this week, the Fishers Redevelopment Commission approved a new agreement that will bring new life to the area. 56 town homes in the $550,000 range, and 10 single family homes in the $750,000 range. Check it out!

Is Your Retirement Plan Really Optimized?

Do you have a personal trainer? An interior designer? What about a financial advisor? Odds are you’re using professionals to guide your health, home, and maybe your finances. And many finance advisors’ plans can fall short in key areas:

  1. Will more than 50% of your retirement income be taxed?

  2. Is there any chance you could run out of money?

  3. Will your investing fees/commissions remain the same even as your financial priorities shift from ‘growth’ to ‘preservation and income’?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these, it’s time for a second opinion. Jay is offering Fishers Digest readers a free custom retirement optimization report that can guide you to the retirement you deserve. Today’s race route

This weekend Indy will serve as the 5th stop for the American Criterium Cup hosting two crit races, a bike race where cyclists compete for some serious cheddar. Here are the details:

Today is the Mass Ave Crit > expect a “street-party vibe” happening from 4-9:30 PM on the 1-kilometer course. I’d post up at one of the bars/restaurants along the 400 block and watch the show!

Saturday is the Indy Crit > expect a family-friendly festival at University Park starting at 9:30 AM. Pros will finish out at 2:45 and 4:05 PM. There will also be a youth race, food, vendors, and two BMX shows.

Here are all the event details, and a heads up on the road closures too.

Meet the plant community🪴

What claims to be the biggest plant party in Indiana will happen this Sunday from 12-5 pm in Indianapolis! This show caters to everyone in the plant community, from rookie plant parents to hard core collectors. The market plans should also have something for everybody. Tickets here.

If this isn’t your jam, the Hamilton County Master Gardeners Association is hosting a Daylily sale at the HamCo Fairgounds. Details here.

Berry Cherry Festival at Tuttle’s 🍒 🫐

This is a two day festival full happening at Tuttle’s Orchard this weekend. Celebrate summer with delicious berry and cherry treats, family-friendly activities, and more! Learn more.

School is in session (sort of)🎓️

Last call: City Government Academy Applications

Twice a year as a resident of Fishers, you have the opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at how the City of Fishers government runs. And it’s not boring politics stuff. It’s an interactive experience showing you where the heck your toilet waste goes when you flush, how Fishers PD can find old crime guns, and much more. Sign ups here.

Fishers Police Academy

Apps are open for the Citizen’s Police Academy. Classes will be held weekly from 8/14 to 9/20. You could be one of the 25 selected applicants to experience demos and receive instruction on topics such as criminal law, crime prevention, defensive tactics, and the K-9 program.

The Mayor’s Youth Academy

The Mayor’s Youth Academy also invites Fishers High School juniors with a GPA of 3.0+ who are interested in various aspects of city government. This is an excellent opportunity to gain immersive experience working with the Mayor and city council officials. And, it wouldn’t look bad on a college application either 🙂 Registration is open until July 26. Apply here.

🎶 Live Music

Our pick: Corey Cox at Parks Place Pub. Corey is a country artist who has rocked over 1,000 shows between Indiana and Nashville, TN. He’s headlined for some of the greats like Dierks Bentley, Darius Rucker, and many more. He is epic and whenever he plays it’s a must see 🎸 FREE 8-11 pm tonight at PPP.

How’d we find out where Corey is playing? Easy, we used our live music venues list on our site below 👇️

Fishers Food Truck scene: Naan Stop

It started raining right after I took this pic 😎

Did you know Fishers' food truck scene is booming? At least it feels like it is. We stumbled upon Naan-STOP, a newcomer parked in a church lot on Olio Road that opened in early June. If you’re on the east side of Fishers and been wondering how this is, here's the scoop:

Restaurant-quality Indian food, minus the walls:

  • Freshly cooked to order (worth the short 5-minute wait)

  • Diverse menu nails three different dishes we tried

  • Open late - perfect for 10 pm curry cravings

The cherry on top? The friendly local owners running the show.

Verdict: 👍️ We'll be back for seconds.
