The Digest

The email that might delay a Fishers HQ

In case you missed it, Michael Andretti’s bid to join F1 was rejected.

One key point made for denying the Andretti team’s bid to join F1: they didn’t respond to a request to meet in person. It turns out, that request from F1 was actually just an email. And even more unfortunate, it was sent to Andretti’s spam. So the team never saw it. Here’s the full quote from F1:

"Having had the opportunity to consider the applicant's responses together with our own deliberations, we subsequently wrote to the applicant on 12 December 2023 extending an invitation to an in-person meeting at our offices in order for the applicant to present its application, but the applicant did not take us up on this offer."

-F1 Statement

I’m not in the business of rumors, but it’s possible to believe part of their $200m HQ being built in Fishers was banking on their bid to join F1 being accepted. The reason the construction has stalled is unrelated (see: lawsuit), but it does make you wonder if they’ll continue.
