🍽️ New eats coming to The Union at Fishers District
Get ready to treat your taste buds — Kitchen Social and Niku Sushi.Kitchen.Bar (we didn’t misspell this) are set to join the lineup at The Union at Fishers District.
> 🍸 Kitchen Social will offer scratch-made, international dishes like cheddar and scallion biscuits and teriyaki ribeye.
> 🍣 Niku Sushi, from Prime Restaurant Group, will serve upscale Japanese cuisine with a twist, complete with a full sake and craft cocktail bar.
Both spots are expected to open in 2026, alongside Piedra, which is owned by the same locals who do Agave and Casa Santa.
But where is The Union?!
Image from Thompson Thrifts marketing material
Fear not dear Fishers Digest reader. The Union will be just south of The Yard on 116th/69. The Yard (or just “Fishers District”) is where 1933 Lounge, Rize, Sun King Brewery, etc are.
It’s all part of a multi-year project that should end sometime in 2026. Basically, just imagine The Yard area as it is now and multiply it a few times + add an Event Center (which will be at The Crossing).
🏨 Plus a new hotel (AC?)
Rendering from the public staff report
On Wednesday, city officials will review plans for a new six-story AC Hotel at The Union. The report doesn’t say a name, but all the renderings have AC Hotel by Marriott on them lol. It will have all the things you expect from a hotel, with one really cool feature...
An 833-square-foot mural on the façade. In the image above, it’s the red square in the middle. No artist has been announced yet.
Construction is expected to start in 2025, with doors opening in late 2026.
Thompson Thrift (the developers behind all of the above sections) did not pay me to write or tell you about all these projects — it’s just stuff you should know that can be hard to piece together 😎 It’s a huge part of what Fishers calls the “Next Chapter.”
🎙️ School Board election podcasts — all in one place!
The local blogger and legend LarryinFishers has done it again with some nice news — this time organizing a podcast with all of the city’s upcoming HSE school board candidates in one place.
This is a big deal, as it’s the first time all candidates agreed to participate in the series since Larry started podcasting in 2016!
Here are the candidates by township — click here to listen to their podcasts:
Fall Creek Township
Terry Tolle
Suzanne Thomas
Delaware Township
Greg Lannan
Latrica Schooley
Wayne Township
Sarah Parks-Reese
John Stewart
Want to hear them duke it out? WFYI will be sponsoring a debate with the candidates on October 10 at Fishers City Hall. It’s already sold out, but don’t worry — WFYI will livestream it!
The Happenings
Your week preview 📆
We want your October to be spookishly good, so we rounded up all of the Halloween Happenings this month and stored them here.
Starting this week:
Oct. 2 from 5:30-7:30 PM
Daniel’s Vineyard
A free event with music by Annie’s Jams and a Halloween costume contest. Come dressed in your Halloween best. As they say… if you got it, haunt it.
Oct. 5 @ 10:30 am
The Studio Theater (Carmel)
Many people fear scary animals like spiders, snakes, and bugs. This Peanut Butter and Jam show (ideal for kids 1-7) encourages kids to not be “scared” of these very cool creatures. Tickets are $10 (includes 2 free adult tickets).
Oct. 5 from 6-10 PM
Lucas Oil Stadium
Colts fans and their families are invited to South Street outside the stadium for trick-or-treating, special appearances, performances by the Colts Cheer + more. Admission is $5 but anyone under 17 is free. Tickets are required and can be downloaded ahead of time through link above.
Oct. 5 from 6:30-9:30 PM
Are you a museum member? If so, take part in a preview of the Witch Way Road Trip, a journey down Route 66 to Boneyard Beach. There will also be a costume contest, games, crafts and activities, & Circle City Ghostbusters photo ops. Tickets are $20/ person and kids under 2 are free.
✨Twilight Town Hall
Want to hear the mayor talk trash services in Fishers at a time most people aren’t working? This Zoom call is for you. On Wednesday at 8 pm, you can join this virtual call to hear from the city as well as ask any questions. Zoom registration here.
“The world begins at a kitchen table. No matter what, we must eat to live.”
If you agree with that statement, then you might be interested in an upcoming event breaking down the recipe for a good community. Fishers seems to have one (see later on in this newsletter). If you want to discuss this with other friendly Hoosiers, one of the six discussions is happening at Thai Villa in Fishers on October 17th. Tickets are $30 here.

Raise your hand if you’re surprised by this ✋
Unless you are new to receiving this newsletter (❤️) your hand should NOT be up. All the normal reasons for the high ranking are there. Low crime, nice amenities, the works. But this year’s award highlights something else:
“Fishers has one of the lowest rent-burdened populations of cities on our list, with 43.4% of residents paying more than 30% of their income to rent.”
You can view all the list winners with more details here.

At this point, you’ve read 75% of this newsletter. Thanks for doing that!
The conversation you hear below is not two people. It’s AI generated by Google’s NotebookLM podcast generation feature. I have no control over the script and what they say, other than giving them today’s newsletter as you read it today (which is written 100% by us humans) 😂
Please let us know what you think! I’ll be happy to share our own evaluation results but don’t want to bias you going into this.
