Fishers PD - Revisiting a new ordinance
Turns out dialing 911 for every hiccup isn’t a business best practice after all. Since Fishers rolled out a public-safety nuisance ordinance in 2023, excessive calls from shops, hotels, and apartments dropped a cool 30%. Freeing up what Fishers PD claims as 321 officer-hours 🚓
Not familiar? Most won’t be. This is how the ordinance works from a business POV:
7 calls → “Hey neighbor, everything okay?” type letter
10 calls → A sit-down with Fishers public safety squad
15 calls → $250 fine, and a six-month “chronic violator” sash nobody wants to wear
33 businesses have advanced to stage two, and the plans they developed with Fishers PD have resulted in 0 businesses hitting the fine stage and getting charged money. Great stuff!
⚾️ Baseball records
Two Fishers natives made unreal debuts in the big leagues this week, and both did it like they read a script in advance.
Monday, April 21 – Craig Yoho (Fishers HS, IU) played the eighth inning for the Brewers, and struck out the first batter he faced! Watch
Thursday, April 24 – Matt Gorski (Hamilton Southeastern HS, IU) steps up for the Pirates and unloads a 434-foot, 115 mph home run in his very first at-bat. Watch
They are both, respectively, the first Tiger and Royal to debut on an MLB roster. HUGE congrats!!!
🧠💬 Got a mortgage question you can’t Google?*
We're flipping the script. Fishers’ own Cori & Amie at Ruoff Mortgage are opening up their inboxes just for Fishers Digest readers to answer anything and everything mortgage and home loans. Consider them your neighborly ChatGPT for mortgage help.
A few Q's they're primed to answer:
Should I buy right now? Will I save money?
What kind of down payment programs are out there right now?
I keep losing home bids, help! 💢
