The Digest
When Andretti HQ 🏁
Rendering of Andretti HQ
Race fans. This ones for you.
One big thing: The Andretti Racing HQ is still being built, despite all their setbacks. Goal is still to open in 2025.
Looking back: In 2022, The Andretti Global team announced they will build a $200m headquarters in Fishers. It will be right by the Indy Metro airport and Nickel Plate Trail.
Problems started when one of the company’s who helped with the designs and construction were fired. So they sued Andretti’s planner in Hamilton County Court for $11.3 million. They’re claiming breach of contract, amongst other things. You can read the entire court complaint here.
Why it matters: Andretti is a big name in racing. The campus will employ at least 500 people and is a huge win for Fishers. The plan is for it to be more than an HQ. Here’s more of what they have planned:
A facility to house a restaurant serving some Andretti-family dishes
A family museum
An outdoor amphitheatre
When will it be built: The goal has always been 2025. Andretti has a clock ticking to do so:
Fishers committed $26m to help build it. Which will be paid back to Fishers through their taxes. They have until Feb 2024 to use them or a new deal will have to be made.
Andretti needs the facility in use by 2025 for IndyCar, and their bid to join F1
And hey. A few weeks ago, Michael Andretti made a joke at the US Grand Prix. Their new HQ will be way nicer than Mclaren’s HQ (Mclaren is moving into their old Indy HQ 😂). He’s also poked fun at Ferrari, saying the same thing.
Arts and Culture grant
In 1 month, applications for the 2024 Arts + Culture grants will close. This is an opportunity to receive up to $7,500 from the city to build an art or culture related project. This year, the city is pushing for projects that are within the Nickel Plate District limits (anywhere in the city is good though).
Tips: If you plan to apply, my guess is meeting and exceeding the requirements will put you in a good spot. Here’s a few that could:
Completed or made in the Nickel Plate District
Instead of meeting just two, meet all of the Commission’s core values
Something that includes a culinary experience, concert, or permanent installation. A 2019 poll had these three at the top for the types of events people are interested in
Disclaimer: This is just a guess. We aren’t on the commission and also applied ourselves 🤞
Grant Applications Close: December 15, 2023, at 11:59 PM EST
Grants Winners Announced: Week of January 8, 2024, via email followed by a press release.

Library director resigns
One big thing: The Fishers/Noblesville shared library director’s last day is December 22.
Last Thursday, Edra Waterman told the library board she was moving on. It is not currently known why. The board will begin looking for a new CEO/director. They don’t believe there will be an impact on the library’s services.
