The Digest

🦅 Where’s everyone coming from

Source: Redfin housing market search data

Here’s a fun one. Redfin regularly surveys it’s 200m users to create profiles of cities. One of those charts is who is moving to and from Fishers. Based on their data, here’s what they’ve found:

👉️ Top 3 cities fueling Fishers:

  • Chicago, IL

  • Los Angeles, CA

  • San Francisco, CA

👇️ Top 3 places to leave Fishers to:

  • Cape Coral, FL

  • Sarasota, FL

  • Louisville, KY

It’s important to note that this data is only estimating moves based on intent. To be included in this chart, a Redfin user must have viewed at least 10 homes in a three-month period. For more fun to know stats from Redfin, go here.

Turn down the music

On Wednesday, after a lengthy convo the Plan Commission backed the rezoning of Traders Point Christian Church. The church plans to use the additional land to construct a bigger facility and parking lot.

This got more attention than your average rezone because this church is blastin the gospel. Neighbors mentioned there were concerns with the expansion, saying the music they play is too loud.

Which brought up an interesting piece of city code. You are not allowed to produce noise louder than 115db for more than 2 minutes per hour 10 feet from wherever it’s being played.

🧊 Be Bold, Get Cold*

The 25th Anniversary of Indiana's chilliest tradition is almost here! The 2024 Polar Plunge. This event is put on by and supports the Special Olympics. It’s a fundraiser meant to support traaining and competition opportunities for over 18,000 Special Olympics athletes in Indiana. And this year, they are dreaming big – a cool million big. I’ll see myself out..

But they can’t do it without your help. To participate, all you have to do is signup and raise $99 with your personal or team fundraising link. This gains you entry to the plunge and following celebration with costumes, cheers, and an After Splash Bash.

The event is soon on February 17th at Wolfies Grill on Geist. So if you’re ready to break records and ice register now at the Geist sign-up page.

Tuesday’s poll results

The results are in. On Tuesday, I asked who is more responsible for 1 part of the Andretti being denied. The feedback for both arguments was very good, but I think I am still just barely #teamF1sfault. Link in case you missed it and want to add your feedback.

Watch: This flyover of the new Fishers Event Center being constructed via drone. Amazing to see the progress and even funnier to see that only 1 or 2 of the shots were a sunny day. (link)

I’m looking for up to 3 readers to join our Special Olympics team doing the Polar Plunge. To join, simply reply to this email with how long you think you’ll last in the icy water. Premium subscribers will be added first. (link)
