The Digest

Fishers Digest - Wrapped

Spotify dropped your 2024 wrapped so let’s drop one too 🎧️ These are based 100% off click volume in this newsletter.

Top 3 Clicks Overall:

We must do a decent job curating what we write on our website, because this year’s top 3 were all self-published content.

  1. Devour Indy Fall 2024 - won’t link this because it’s not relevant currently. But for those who don’t know, this is a twice a year program that restaurants around the city will participate in offering promotional 3-course meals. It’s an amazing time to dine out!

  2. Memento Zero Proof shutting down - and their message to the community (link)

  3. Fishers Event Center review - which we dropped this week (link)

Honorable mention: The best image taken during the eclipse earlier this year.

Top 3 News/Developments:

  1. The Balmoral House becoming a Balmoral Village. A new development featuring 66 single family homes, 102 townhomes, multiple parks, and a walking trail to connect it all.

  2. The CityWalk apartments, condos, and townhomes coming soon to Lantern Road. It will be the tallest building in Fishers when it’s finished (one story higher than First Internet Bank building)

  3. Saxony residents clapping for a hotel development being pushed off in August. Which just got officially denied on Wednesday this week. Here is LarryinFishers’ report on that. Crazy timing!

Honorable mention: A recommendation + funding to build a roundabout at 116th/Olio.

Top 3 Food Interests:

  1. A list of the top 10 American restaurants in Fishers backed by Google Review data. (spoiler: #1 starts with a P).

  2. Vicious Biscuits is coming to Fishers. When it was announced in March, they said they want to open in Fishers within 12 months. I haven’t seen any permit applications or any indication that will happen 🤷

  3. The Piazza Geist Market was super popular this year

What was clicked the least 👎️

There was very few things that had 0 clicks this year. They were mostly related to nature lol. Like a plant hardiness map, and three different Earth Day related events.

My favorite thing this year

Doing the Amazing People Index. This was 100% reader nominated cool people doing cool stuff in Fishers. I would love to do another one of these.

The Fishers Event Center Basketball Court

Those of you going to the HSE vs. Fishers basketball Mudsock game in a few weeks will get to see this beauty in person.

This is the same court used during the 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Neat!

A New Chief on the Block

Mayor Fadness named Ky Ragsdale as the next Chief of Fishers Fire and Emergency Services, starting Jan 24! He is a third-gen firefighter and Navy vet with 20+ years at FFES and deep ties to the community. There are some big boots to fill with Fire Chief Steve Orusa retiring, but he looks ready to take this on! Congratulations 👏

Why trust wins*

Trust is present from the moment you work with Kelly and his team. When selling your home, you want a realtor who will review an offer and give you their honest opinion—not for them. You want a realtor who will work with a buyer’s agent to use strategies that max your proceeds and get you the offer you want. You want a realtor who only wants what’s best for you.

If that all sounds about right to you, make sure to reach out to Kelly Dather if you’re thinking or ready to sell your home. The Kelly Dather Real Estate Group | KW Indy Metro Northeast | Fishers, IN | 317-827-2066

The Happenings

Your weekend preview 📆

A drive-thru nativity show ⛪️

Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Fishers is putting on their annual Living Nativity tonight from 5-8 pm. The coolest part? This is a drive-thru live event with a creative retelling of the Biblical story.

Bring the hot chocolate and don’t worry about setting foot outside.

Snail mail to Santa 📬

Fishers Night Lights begins this Saturday from 5-8 pm at Nickel Plate Amp. The focus this weekend is on letters to Santa! Let your littles pen the perfect letter before mailing off to the North Pole. Afterward enjoy roaming characters, a holiday market, photo ops, and food trucks, too.

Igloos and warming stations will also be on site to keep everyone toasty.

Coffee, cats, + Kris Kringle 😸

Santa will be hanging with the cats this Saturday from 12-2 pm at Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe. Grab a free picture with Santa, enjoy a caffeinated beverage, and visit the adjacent cat lounge (note: cat visits do require a paid reservation).

A party that sleighs feat. Llamas 🦙

Holiday shoppers will be sure to feel all the festivity at the Fa-La-La Holiday Event happening at Hamilton Town Center this Saturday from 12-3 pm. The holiday llamas will be out, and there will be winter photo ops, caricature artists, and carolers in the Greenspace between Ford’s Garage and Livery.

Macarons + music 🎶

Craving some sweets AND holiday tunes to get you into the spirit?  Le Macaron in Fishers will be hosting live performances by Musical Friends this Saturday from 5-7 pm. This is a free event, but the treats are extra.

Storytellers unite 📚

Storytelling Arts of Indiana wants to help up your game when it comes to telling folk, fairy, and mythic tales. Not a great storyteller? Not to worry — all skill levels can join this Sunday from 2:30-4 pm at 5 Municipal Drive where professional storytellers will share tales and tips for your own gain.

If you can’t join this weekend, the group also meets the second Sunday of each month and the Fishers Library.
