The Digest

Community Center

The final phases for the Fishers Community Center are here. The plans (see here) were approved by the city’s plan commission on Wednesday. The last step is a vote by City Council on December 18th.

Missed our last update? Here’s a quick one: This is a $60m project that will include both free and paid amenities for residents. Office space, gyms, pools, daycares, dog park, cafes, you name it. If a zombie apocalypse ever happened, this is where I would go.

Volunteering boom

As we finish out 2023, the team at Fishers who run the volunteering program shared some very interesting stats. Here’s a highlight reel of what you’ve accomplished:

  • About 5% of the city registered to volunteer (5,484)

  • Over 100 non-profits participate

  • Total volunteer hours to date: 10,252.53

  • Estimated value created in volunteer labor: $326,030.45 🤯

When you volunteer through the city, your hours are tracked. Every year, the city holds an award ceremony for top volunteers. My favorite part of this is there was a previous #1 volunteer who wanted to stay anonymous for their award. That is some serious commitment to service.

Office craze

Data from HBR

There’s currently an arms-race for more office space in Indy and Fishers. This is especially the case in high-demand areas. Offices in the Nickel Plate District are fully leased, with growing waitlists.

The otherside: Remote work boomed because of COVID and has steadily balanced out since. Executives are pushing for more in-office work. But they also recognize that remote work isn’t going away.

What’s next: A significant amount of development is coming to the Fishers District over the next few years. Nearly all of them include some type of commercial space. With one, the Union at Fishers District, promising 60,000 square feet of office space. Sheesh.

HC Tavern: It’s to die for 🍽️

When people talk about the highlights of human achievement, they mention electric cars, the pyramids, and space travel. But have they ever tried the Lobster Escargot at HC Tavern? It’s an achievement in its own right.

And don’t just take it from us. Here’s what Barbie said after her first visit: “The lobster escargot appetizer was to die for.” Or Greg: “My wife and I are food snobs, and I can confidently say this was some of the best food we’ve ever had. The lobster escargot appetizer is worth every single penny!!”

And for a limited time, Fishers Digest readers get a 20% bonus gift card with a gift card sale of $125+. That’s a lobster escargot.

So don’t wait any longer. You deserve that lobster escargot. Offer ends December 31st.

Play a winning game*

Soteria Insurance Group

When’s the last time you felt like you're playing a losing game?

Insurance, like any industry, is designed to make money. So the game is to make money, and it’s you vs the carrier. That’s probably not a winning game.

Unless you have Luke Cathcart. He’s an independent insurance agent who works for you. Not the big companies. Having Luke on your team is like having Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan on your side of the ring. He’ll find you the best coverage at the lowest cost. And the best part is he doesn’t charge you a dime.

So don’t be a loser. Get a free quote today.
