The Digest

Welcome welcome 👋

A very thankful welcome to the few hundred new subs who have joined us over the past few weeks! Since you’re new, here’s some cool info we’ve shared this year and a little future things to look forward to:

  • We tried six restaurants in Fishers and rated them based on accessibility

  • If you’ve never met or heard of Kelly Dather, he’s an AWESOME realtor that almost exclusively does business in Fishers. I think we have to be careful about how much we hype their team up but they sell houses way faster than the norm here (advertiser)

  • The Fishers Event Center is opening in November. You can book tickets for a few events

  • One in two people pick Handel’s for their ice cream needs (Bruster’s if you’re non-dairy)

  • This is the most viral photo of Indy of recent memory (thank u eclipse)

  • Trash is probably going to be city managed next year and will be about $16/mo

  • Happy Hour recently returned to Indiana! Here’s a Facebook group to see who has what

The Indystar hits Fishers with a hat trick

Episode 4 Messenger GIF by UFC

We’re in the business of curating news (and sometimes breaking it) and over the past few days the IndyStar published a few good ones. All of these require a subscription so we’ll give you the full summary:

🏎️ Prema Racing HQ is coming to Fishers. And it’s going to be right across the street from the Andretti HQ. So make that two IndyCar teams with their HQ in Fishers. If you haven’t heard of Prema Racing, they’re a brand new Italian team coming to IndyCar — so new that they don’t even have a driver yet! (they are taking applications) 😂 Article here.

📈 Most of Fishers will be developed by 2045, with a population of 130,000. We are around 105,000 right now, depends on who you ask. Fishers currently is the largest Hamilton County city, but by 2045 it will probably be Carmel again. Article here.

📉 The Kincaid House was supposed to be the centerpiece of a roundabout near where it currently sits. Everything was lined up and then… it just never happened. Other than mowing the lawn around it, no one maintains it. And yeah, no one knows what’s going to happen next to it. Article here.

Today is the last day to nominate someone for our Fishers version of the Indiana 250 (which we still don’t have a good name for so accepting suggestions). One more time in case you need the rules:

  1. You have to be nominated by someone else

  2. The nominee has to be doing something objectively cool

  3. Can’t be related to politics

We are going to post the list in Friday’s issue 😎 These will be high-level overviews and links to the stuff they’re doing. Lindsey and I (Skyler) will work with everyone who was nominated to do a deeper feature in the future. You can reply to this email with your nominations.

🎡 State Fair Thoughts: Mom POV

Alright — we gave you the highfly of the wild new food coming to the State Fair last week. There’s a lot more fresh fair this year, so we went through and did a hot/not list but from a mom POV:

Hot:

  • kids under 5 are free!

  • there’s now a permanent splash pad in the Family Fun Park from 9AM-8PM.

  • The great American Duck Race! This is Olympic swimming, but for ducks! You can’t not smile, people.

  • Family friendly movies are happening from 9AM-8PM.

  • There’s a whole $5 Value Menu that’ll get you alllll fair food on a budget.

  • There are 100+ FREE things to do.

Not:

  • The fair is CLOSED on Mondays.

  • Pogo Fred, a legit Guinness World Record pogo-stick jumper, will be showing off his stunts this year. Avoid if you already have enough holes to fix in your ceiling. Just kidding, but… 😬

Kitchen Social is coming to Fishers 🍽️

Move over, food court - Kitchen Social is bringing a melting pot of cuisines to The Union at Fishers District in 2026. This Columbus favorite, serving up everything from curry to carbonara, will be dishing out its award-winning eats in a 4,500-square-foot space. This is now the second confirmed restaurant that will be there. The first confirmed is Piedra Mexican (owned by the same people who do Agave, Casa Santa, etc).
