The Digest

You voted this as the best ice cream in Fishers🍦👑

Handel's absolutely crushed, scooping up 57% of the 300 votes. With Graeter’s and Bruster’s following behind. The other seven options were grouped together so you didn’t have to squint reading the infographic for the full scoop (pun intended).

Two flavors mentioned a few times were Graham Central Station from Handel’s or Bruster’s, and anything chocolate chip from Graeter’s like Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip.

If it was a non-dairy competition, Bruster’s would have won easily. They had a ton of entries hyping that up.

Big thanks to everyone who voted and our friends at SMARI for crunching the numbers. Mike and Imara - you rock. If you need market research, they are your world class option and best part is they’re local.

Fishers' trash plan is getting real

Republic Services might be handling your garbage come 2025. A new proposed 10-year contract would start at $16.39/month and go up a little every year. That's less than what 87% of us pay now. Plus it includes trash, recycling, leaf pickup, and a new “snowbird” option.

Want to weigh in? There's a public hearing on August 13 at the Board of Public Works.

That’s the key info you need to know. But if you want to get into the nitty gritty trash details, including a full history into how we got here, we have them on our website.

Submit your nominations!

This week we got over 10 nominations for our Fishers version of the IBJ’s “Indiana 250”. Which is 10 more than I was expecting 🎉 So we are going through with making a list!

Just to keep things simple, July 31st will be the last day to nominate someone. If you need a refresher, here’s the rules:

  1. You have to be nominated by someone else

  2. The nominee has to be doing something objectively cool in Fishers

  3. Can’t be related to politics

All you have to do is reply to this email with who you are nominating. List will be released on August 2.

The Viral Cleaning Tablets Everyone’s Talking About!

Everyone cleans their clothes and dishes regularly but when was the last time you actually made sure that the appliance responsible for doing the cleaning was clean itself?

Sad Fact: Dirty appliances don't clean well. You wouldn't bathe in a dirty bathtub so why are you washing your things in dirty machines?

Join the over 1 million happy customers who use ACTIVE's viral cleaning tablets and stop worrying whether or not your appliances are actually cleaning like they're supposed to again!

Personal note from Fishers Digest writers: We’ve tried these and they rock. Our washing machine was starting to get a little funky and we used their tablets above and it made a world of difference 👍️

Coming Soon 🔜

Gen Con returns to Indy August 1-4

The only badge left for next week’s 4 day event is Sunday. Which hey, is better than nothing if you don’t already have one. They say these will likely be sold out shortly. Get a badge here.

There’s a massive amount of events going on next week that won’t require a badge though. Almost 24,000 to be exact. Which you can view on their site here.

Don’t know what Gen Con is? It’s “The Best Four Days in Gaming”, which started as a meeting between friends to play games in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Now we have Gen Con 👾

It’s almost that time of year again — back to school! 🛎️

Does the sound of a school bell make you cringe with anxiety, too? 😆 The 3rd annual “Before the Bell” will be August 1 at the Nickel Plate AMP starting at 5:30 PM. All HSE students, preschool to 12th grade, are invited for games, inflatables, community vendors and booths, and even a touch-a-bus opportunity. No stress here — this will be a fun evening to get the kids amped for the school year again! More details here.

Local Business

Have you tried the new Birria Tacos from Tako Seoul?

Birria Tacos from Tako Seoul

You have to try these. If you haven’t been, Tako Seoul is a fast casual Mexican restaurant with a Korean twist. They’ve got the usual suspects when it comes to taco options, and these new Birria Tacos they have are 🔥

Why the heck is there a duck floating on the river in Indy?

What you are looking at is a 1,600 lb duck that was brought here courtesy of the University of Oregon. This week was Big 10 Media Days here in Indy at Lucas Oil. And the Oregon Ducks are a new team that have been brought to the Big 10, which is now 18 teams. We don’t follow college sports but.. shouldn’t it be called the Big 18 now? 😂

I do not know if this duck is still terrorizing the river but if you head to downtown Indy this weekend you’ll have to let us know if you see it.
